I am unsure how other sober companion or recovery coach services are but this one should be avoided at all costs. I pre-paid $8,000 because I needed help adjusting from in program to living at home again.
I had a great companion named Anna at first who was very helpful with a ton of things from helping me with calling insurance companies to sharing her AA experience with me. Then at the next stage I asked for help again and after one day of having Emily, without conversation and a meager explanation, cut off services with no notice and left me home alone. I had no time to make other arrangements or money to find another companion. The misunderstanding was that I had asked the companion to help with errands while i was in outpatient for most of the day and she offered to cook, which was great.
Then the owner calls me next day, not asking me whatsoever what happened and said I was "using her as an assistant" and didnt allow any conversation and she left five minutes later.
This is outrageously dangerous, inept and compassionless. If Richard Blair (owner) can't have an open dialogue about a minor one day misunderstanding, I can't imagine how many other people have just been abandoned out of the blue who are at risk and depending on this service for vital help that can mean life or death for some. This industry absolutely needs to be regulated because of situations such as this, and I hope this review reaches anybody who is reaching out for this kind of help.
