Why doesn’t Carrier leave things alone? Congratulations Carrier. You have taken the (MyInfinity App) which was beautiful in every way. And forced this piece of garbage down our throats.
In making my decision to purchase my $13,000.00 Carrier green AC System, I look at what the app would be like, what the unit would be like, etc. it was a nice App, needless to say, now this app is horrible, nearly useless. Congratulations Carrier you got an (F) from me. I wish I could give it all back and go with a different brand now.
Absolute garbage. The prior app worked well, though not elegant it was reliable. This app is a joke. It won't log in, constantly asks for credentials, freezes, is missing features - remarkably bad. Carrier should get out of the software business. It's no wonder the new tech home control products are kicking their butts. Why they would replace a perfectly acceptable app with this monstrosity is beyond me. Someone should be fired. Bring back the old app and focus on something you are good at.
The new app is garbage because it doesn't implement everything the old app did. Now that we are being FORCED to use this app, not by choice, it’s because you are not stuck with this garbage abb. I constantly have to re-link my thermostat and phone app, the app keeps forgetting my settings. I can't believe a company that has been around this long can't find a competent software app developer.... Another update rebooted my phone and my carrier settings are gone after entering them again and again and again.
This is terrible! They "updated" no not updated, they throughout the old app and created a garbage app, I can't even sign in anymore after the update. It's as if the developers looked at all the other smart thermostats on the market, took the worst things about all of them, and called them features in their own app.
No, it’s not just me complaining, go to Google Play or Apple app and you will see that everyone has the same feelings. Now let’s talk about my New GREEN Carrier AC Unit itself. I paid over $13,000.00 Carrier green AC System, I purchased their most expensive Wi-Fi thermostat the first week after the installation, it was having problems, it was making the humidity in the house go up where everything in the house was getting wet, now out at the air handler it was making the air handler sweet and I was told this is normal.
Turns out after the runaround, I finally had someone come take a look. By then on the inside of the brand new air handler, the sweet was all over the circuit boards, so of cause, the circuit board needed to be replaced. And I needed to replace their most expensive thermostat as well.
New was outside at the condenser which had a sensor go bad, so I had that replaced.
Next, just out-of-warranty items are the circuit boards that are inside the condenser. Both boards are now bad, which means that your AC will not cool at all. The circuit boards are out of stock, so they need to order the circuit boards from out of state, said that they would need to charge an extra $150.00 or thereabout for shipping and it will take about a week to get them.
Meanwhile, I’m in Florida, it's August, temps are in the upper 90s my house if now in the upper 80s unbearable. The costs of the boards are around $1,000.00 who knows what the installation will cost?
I purchased Carrier most expensive thermostat, and GREEN Ac System to save money on electric bills, I guess that was so now I can give them all my savings and then some.
In all the years and houses that I have owned, I have never had any problems with my AC units. I guess that’s because they were the cheaper type, and this new GREEN Ac System has so many circuit boards etc.
I hope that if you are reading this, that I saved you from making the same mistake that I made. I guess that they call it their GREEN AC System because it will suck all the green out of your bank account.
First of all this has nothing to do with the local service provider for my AC. It is all about Carrier. My AC is a 4 year old Infinity series. I live in Florida and am considered a "senior citizen" so being with out air for 22 days is pretty rough.
In May I called for overtime service of my provider to fix the AC as it was the beginning of a weekend. He determined it was the compressor and couldnt get the part till the beginning of the week. Come Monday and three days without air the provider was told by Carrier tech that it couldnt be the compressor but the Inverter Board. It was replaced and AC worked..... for two weeks. So in the middle of June the service provider came out again and put in another Inverter Board based of Carrier counsel. A number of days again without air. Again two weeks later it went out again. During this time they started blaming the Quick Cutoff box and needed a surge protector. Because of thier counsel I replaced both at unneccesary cost to me.
Again in July the inverter board went out again. If you are keeping count that is three inverter boards. Finally Carrier says "duh" it must be the compressor. The same diagnosis as from the service provider back in May. So they dont want to put in another board without replacing compressor. Understandable finally. Only problem is that in the whole US there is not a compressor or at least it appeared that way. I was without air for one and a half weeks. Finally it came in and was installed.
So here is the final problem. Though Carrier advised against the compressor from the start I am still responsible for the labor from thier misdiagnosed problem. It is costing me for all the trips $1400 in labor. The service provider tried to petition Carrier for consideration for me but they would not have any part of it. I can not in good conscience suggest Carrier to anyone looking for an AC. Its sad because at one time they had a good reputation.
Heat exchanger has failed in a five year old Carrieir furnace. They have offered to supply a new heat exchanger however they require me to pay the $800 installtion. This is the same issue their previous model had that there was a class action law suit they lost.
They have no interest in finding the root cause of the failure and thus I am concerned it will fail again and is potentially a safety issue.
I asked them to apply the replacement cost of the heat exchanger to a new furnace that would have a warranty however they stated that was not possible.
Very concerned about safety and viabilty long term of the furnace based on their previous issues and also the dissapointing response they provided to us.
