This agency is not legit for modeling. I have heard stories from people who have signed with them and they don't follow industry standards. They are not on the ACTRA list so that is a redflag. Knowing your rights as a model and actor are important. First thing an agency that is legit will have small rooster. Anyone who takes someone without experience is another redflag. NO legit agency will take someone on without porflio and experience. Legitimate agencies don’t require you to buy photos or insist that you only use a particular photographer. If a talent agency wants you to pay for photos up front, walk away.
Any legit agency will let you chooose a photographer, this means you don't have to use theirs. They can't ask you to pay for photos! You don't need to pay for course fee's that is a sign usally they just want money. A good agency will not pressure you to take any classes. That is not what they are for. Angeny that has experience will NEVER ask you to take classes because in order to get an agent you need experience. That is a scam! As well any agent that is good will have lots of industry connections. They will never take someone on unless they know they can get them work. An agent only makes money if they get the client work. As well if you are actra THEY can NOT send you out to do non-union work.
I don't know a single actra memeber that is with this agency. A good agent will get you auditons for TV and Movies. You may not get the part but a good agent will send you out on a lot for calls. It is the agents job to get you work. As well a normal rate or fee is $250 and the agency must be able to allow monthly pay. This means any rate they charge you they must be able to take installments. This means annual payments must be accepted as well they must accept all payment methods not just cash. As well just reviews some companies hire people to write good reviews. If you see too many negative reviews (like this company something is wrong) I don't think this is a good angency for anyone to sign on to. They don't seem to be very proffessional. Know your rights!
Carlolyns Model and Talent misrepresented themselves and defrauded me under pressure.
I'm a Widowed 23 year old Mom of 4year old twin boys. I was in a store in my neibourhood when a nice lady aproached me and said how adorible my twin boys were and that she had a Job in a TV commercilal they would be perfect for and that I should meet her at her office that day to make sure my boys could be seen right away for TV Commercial .
I went to meet her later that day at her office . I have to say I was not sure what to expect but she left me with the impression that I was bringing my twins to some type of Audition for a TV Commercial But What I got was a high pressure sales pitch to sign my boys up with them (Carolyns Model and Talent Agency) and they wanted me to buy a picture package from them because they said I need quility pictures to be submiitted to Commercial Castings. Registration fee $250.00 each for yearly admin fee or give me a deal for $400.00 for both boys. Pictures were going to be $ 400 to $600 dollars plus
When I told them that was a lot of money for me and I was under the impression I was coming to a TV Commercial Audition for my boys and not having to pay out any money. I was told there may have been slight misunderstanding and that I needed to at least pay Registration fee that day so that the boys would not lose these great chance to be in a National TV Commercial . I told them I wanted to talk to my Mom first because I'm on a very fixed income and I wanted her input and some financial help too but I could not get a in touch with her till after 5pm that day .
Then then said if I can pay for half Registration fee $200.00 they could get my boys into the Audition for TV Commercial . I just happen to have $200.00 on me I just recieved from the twins Dads Mom but it was part of my food money for the month for me and the twins . I told the Agency that my Mom may not approve and not help me so I sould wait and hold this money till i speak to her . The Agency said not to worry and give them the $200.00 dollars now so they could registar them and they would get the them the Audition and if my Mom was not approving and not going to help me financially they would refund my entire $ 200.00 cash to me next day with no problem .

My Mom did not apprrove because of internet search she did on Carolyns Model and Talent Agency . I saw one or two good reviews on them but my Mom pointed out that there were a lot more bad reviews then good on them and Were there is Smoke there is Fire ,get your money back . I asked Carolyns the follow day to return the $200.00 dollars cash I gave them . They made a fuss about how I they already submitted the boys for Audition and that its not OK for me to back out just like that . I told them that I just needed the moneyback to feed me and my boys for that month and they pomised to return it in full if I needed back.
Its been close to 3 Months today of countless phone calls unanswered and messages being left and not returned and I still have not got any of my $200.00 back from them.
Carlolyn Model and Talent Agency knowingly took food out of the mouth of my two babies for their own personal gain : (
