Carlson flooring has refused to admit that they failed to provide the service we agreed to pay them to perform. That service was to match the tile they were to install in our bedroom to the rest of the tile in our house. Carlson continues to lie and deny, insisting that it was my wife and I who chose the wrong tile, not them. This is simply untrue and stands as proof of their untrustworthiness and their unmitigated greed.

Adding insult to injury was that although we paid them $9745.00 for the complete inclusive job, they attempted to convince us that we actually received a discount of $780 for some edge moulding. This is utterly ridiculous. That moulding should have been included in the complete price quoted and regardless, it would never total anywhere near $780.

We chose this company solely for their promise to procure the correct product and for no other reason. Carlson buys the product from a vendor. They hire an independent contractor to install it. Their only function and value to us, as a consumer is to provide service. That service, in this case, is to make certain that the tile matches per our request. They failed to do so purely due to their neglect and incompetence.

Any reputable company has an obligation to own up to it's errors and to try to make things right. A good company earns it's reputation by ensuring it's customer's satisfaction. Carlson, on the other hand, has chosen to do the complete opposite. They choose to deny that their salesperson, Mark Hennessy went to our house as well as our builder's design center for the express reason of choosing the right tile. Mr. Hennessy made the decision to choose the tile based on his conclusions. We trusted his knowledge and expertise.

After their salesperson, Mr. Hennessy visited our home, he purchased what he thought was the correct tile matching tile. He then called my wife by phone to assure us that he definitely had the right tile. When the installer arrived months later, they had a completely different tile. Mr. Hennessy was now nowhere to be found. Upon calling Carlson, we were told it was "just a different dye lot", that is was the correct tile and that we had no choice then to let it be installed. This, of course, was untrue: it was the wrong tile.

Carlson wants to pretend that none of this ever happened. They prefer to lie and blame us for the error. They point to the sales agreement they had us sign showing a tile order number they now claim that we chose completely on our own! They claim that they don't match tile even though that is exactly what they promised in order to get our business! They offered no compensation for their error and had no remorse for our dissatisfaction and instead, immediately threatened legal action if we did not pay them in full. Fearing retribution, we were forced to pay them every dime.

They did, however, offer to fix their mistake by replacing the tile (with the easily obtainable correct tile) at our expense! And again they lied, insisting that we would receive a discounted price for this replacement, which was completely untrue.

Carlson intially offered compensation of $780 over the phone. They then rescinded that offer, claiming instead that the $780 was a discount for some moulding which should have been included in our total anyway. We tried sending Carlson a check for the balance due minus the S780 discount. However, they began threatening us once once, so we sent a second check for the remaining $780.

For my wife and I, senior citizens on a fixed income, choosing to trust Carlson was one of the biggest mistakes we have ever made. We simply can not believe that they would choose to take advantage of us in this manner Apparently, they have gotten their way and have no remorse or regret for mistreating us this way.

Incompetence, denial, and pure greed are not desirable attributes for any company to be worthy of one's hard earned dollars. I implore any consumers to beware of Carson and their like: Companies that lure unsuspecting consumers with false promises and worthless guarantees only later to deny, lie, threaten and hide behind sale's agreements and legalese carefully constructed for their own protection to cover their mistakes.

Carlson has conducted themselves shamefully and they need to be held accountable for their actions. I am hoping that this report will help other consumers to stand up companies, such as Carlson's FlooringAmerica, who fail to perform their agreed to service yet refused to admit that did so and yet provided no compensation for that lapse. They are unscrupulous, untrustworthy and need to be avoided at all costs.
