I was looking at Trucks on CARGURU. CARGURU OBVIOUSLY IS NO BETTER. STAY AWAY. I wanted to see the history of 1 truck. So it was a $1. You could also get 30 reports a month for $24.95 a month for 3 months. I just wanted one report. So they charged me $1. But I go to reconcile my checkbook and find out after they charged me that dollar they went back and stole my identity to act like I charged 23.95 two more times in October and now I find out they stole my money twice in November also. 23.95 was not even one the options. It is identity theft along with interstate bank fraud.
When it comes to the ease of selling a car Cargurus has got to be the absolute worst. I had listed my car on their website and it ran fine for 3-4 days. Then bam I get an email that says I have to send in a verification photo.
Don't you think this step should have been on day one? So I monkey around printing off their verification sheet place it in my car window and open the door and do the macarena for them and here I am days later with emails piling up from potential buyers that I cant respond to because my account is still processing. What trash.
They claim its for security reasons that they do this, my car is listed on six other car sale websites and none of them ask for this type of verification. Do the math. Cargurus sucks.
My issue is with cargurus for adding un-solicited data into my submitted ad. In large red letters at top of ad cargurus states vehicle is more than $2,000.00 over-priced. However, if you scroll down you will see the chart of average prices on which their "overpriced" identifcation is based.
Problem is their chart stops at 70,000 miles as lowest to be expected, a distinct warning past which i'm sure many people do not continue. The fact that my vehicle has less than 30,000 original miles, was owned and meticulously maintained by a county municipality is not considered. They just go with their average which, in this case, is so mis-leading as to interfer with my attempt to do business.
My vehicle is available for any manner of inspection to verify condition "in reality", not just based on the lazy assumption that all is the same, there can be no difference. Using someone else's numbers for a purley matmatical average in no way conveys an accurate picture in all cases. In this case i believe it has actually interferred with my honest attempt to sell a uniquly well preserved vehicle with thousands of miles yet to go.
Cargurus should do what they offer, advertising of parties attempting to sell a vehicle. It is not necessary for them to act as mommy for people too lazy to do their own research. Making assumptions only proves the old addage, never assume, it just makes an a*s of you and me. Do acurate work that actually has value, don't pander to the lemming attitude of today where the mentally deficient turn to operations like yours to think for them. You wanted such a situation, is it really too overtaxing to strive for accuracy?
On October 8, 2015 I received an email from CarGurus telling me I received a review on their site. I opened the email to see I got a one star review from a guy named Paul. This is what he said in his review: "These guys are ridiculous and impossible to deal with. Every car is high priced and very bad shape. "
I did not remember having any conversations with a Paul recently so I searched my emails and found 3 emails from a Paul (I learned he goes by Paul) on September 13 and 14. Out of the 3 emails I replied to, I only received one reply back, asking for the price of a corvette and if it had T-tops. I replied with those answers, and never heard from him again. This gentlemen never visited my dealership, never talked to us on the phone, and we never heard from him again after the September 14.
After doing some research on this gentleman, I found out he bought a 1992 red corvette from another local dealer on September 18 and has had several minor problems with the corvette ever since. The dealer just finished fixing the problems and returned the car to him on October 6.
Why Paul decided, almost a month later, to slander my business is beyond me. I think he may have my business confused with the business that sold him the car he had problems with. I contacted CarGurus right away to have this review removed, due to it being completely false and slanderous, and because the guy obviously was leaving feedback for the wrong dealership. I was transferred to the highest available manager, and they have refused my requests to remove the review.
I have copies of all the emails with Paul, my emails with CarGurus, and a letter from the dealership where he bought his corvette, verifying their part in this situation.
