Carfirst sold me a vehicle that was supposed to be Maryland state "inspected". I was in desperate need of a vehicle and the $695 down deposit was appealing at the time. It was the worse mistake I ever made.
First, I had to travel between two sister Dealerships to sign paperwork. On the test drive, I noticed the stench of coolant inside the cab. I inquired and was told its probably just run-off from the vehicle being topped off. Not! I got sick that evening and the next day I found out why. Coolant fumes were coming through the heating vents. I was told that I couldnt exchange or cancel and that I could only opt to have issues fixed.
Turns out the vehicle had a bad heater core and the Dealer replaced it. After the repair, I continued to run out of oil and coolant and finally spent my own money on a GMC diagnostic. To my suprise, I was sold a lemon. The SUV had a leaking headgasket, multiple engine leaks, leaking transmission and multiple suspension issues that were supposed to be covered by a state inspection.
I contacted the State office of Automotive Safety and Inspection and launched an investigation. I was told that the VIN I provided them was not inspected in the last year and that I could launch an investigation with the state as well as the finance company. I did so!
I called the finance company and launched an investigation. Upon questioning the dealer about my inspection and sticker (not on my window at the time of sale) and presenting him with the GMC diagnosis results, I was quickly offered another vehicle or a loan cancellation with refund!
The process was terrifying and I didnt back down and get stuck in a 4 year loan with 23.99% interest. My loan was canceled and I am awaiting a refund of my down deposit.
