On February 22, 2016, my son purchased a 2001 BMW from Car City Motors, LLC located at 6515 Shepherdsville Rd., Louisville, KY 40228 for $5700 ($4900+ whatever fees they put on top of it). He paid cash. We were told by Jason, the owner, that it was a very good car, inspected and in good running condition with no problems. He was given a 90 days warranty for transmission and engine. On March 1, my younger son noticed a big oil puddle on our driveway where my son parks his BMW. We tried to monitor and watch the car if it really was leaking until we noticed that the oil mark on our driveway was getting bad. On March 9, my son called Car City Motors about the leak and was told the warranty does not cover the leak. On March 15, my son and I went to the car lot and was immediately met by Jason outside. Just by looking through the car around 2 minutes checking, he said he exactly knows where the leak is coming from and to take it back on Monday.
On March 21st, Mondayl, my son took the car back and was told the same thing, a leak on the hose and will fix it for $200. I called and spoke to Jason only to be told that they won't cover the leak. I explained that the leak started a week after my son purchased the car and Jason had guaranteed us during the time of purchase that it was inspected and checked and was in very good running condition and my son will drive that car for a long time. I asked him if he had the inspection report for the car or a carfax and he said there is no inspection report nor a carfax. Jason said that they don't give those in their car lot and if ever there was an oil leak, he is not in the position to disclose it. Jason also offered to buy back the car for $2500 if my son wants to return it. From $5700 to $2500 in one week? When I told him I will have an attorney contact him, he just said, have a nice day and hung up on me. My son took the car for check-up at Pepboys and again at Autobahn who specializes only on BMW. Total repair for the car is $2,316.11! Now, is this a place you can call HONEST? Beware of this place! We are Asian and I think my son was taken advantage of because of our race. My son can speak English but has some problems comprehending other things so I don't really know how they sold him his car because I got to the car lot when he already agreed to buy the car. My son paid CASH not check or money order, CASH! For proof, I have all the estimates to show how we have to pay to have the car in good running condition. If they could have fixed the problem when we first reported it, it should have not gone this far. I think that they do is just to fix the minor things then when the car is sold and starts showing problems, they charge for the repairs or buy the car back for half the price and resell it again to someone for double the price.
