We signed a contract back in may 2016 for patio and fence. He took 6k as down payment and he isnsured me he ll start right away. But he didnt. He ended up starting end of July after numerous calls and text messages. He was very disrespectful when we call him he use to hung up the phone and curse me out. After he did the patio I honestly didn't want to do the fence with him due to the night mare we been through with him. Then his supposed to seal n color the patio and he decided not to do it unless we give him the 4k down payment for the fence we ended up giving him the down payment for the fence which is the 4k and he never came back. Paid him the money august 1st 2016. And until now he never got back to me and I see his doing different projects. I was told he took my money and started a project with it.. please be very aware before u hire him. When I told him I ll report him to the attorney general he told me the attorney general will laugh at u cuz I didn't put an end date on ur contract. Please don't hire him unless u have extra money u looking to waste.
Paul Delorenzo (d/b/a Captain of Concrete Inc.) is unethical and should not be in the business of pouring concrete. We hired him to pour our concrete pool deck. He arrived to pour concrete and ended up getting stuck in our yard due to rain and heavy truck on the grass. The truck was stuck for approx. 8 hours during which time he continually added water to the cement mix to prevent it from setting.
He returned weeks later to finish the rest of the deck. This was done in October/November. When Spring came, we found many cracks, chips and flaking of the concrete, which was due to compromising the integrity of the concrete by adding too much water. He jackhammered out the bad section and repoured. When it dried, it was a completely different shade of concrete so the pool deck does not match.
Also, the coping (rim) around the entire inside lip of the pool was done so poorly that you can see the patch job of slapping on concrete to patch the area, but it was never smoothed or sanded out and it is also a different color concrete. It looks horrible, unprofessional and amateurish.
We have communicated our complete disatisfaction to Paul on numerous occasions, via email, text and phone calls. Paul is unresponsive for weeks at a time. When he does respond, it's cryptic and always with a promise to be out on a specific date. He never shows up and we go through the entire process all over again. It's been over a year and our concrete deck is an embarrassment to view.
In addition, he refused to pay for the additional concrete, which we had to pay in order for the delivery not to be returned. We were never reimbursed for this expense and his no-shows continually held up the electrician's work on numerous occasions.
I have email communications from Paul promising work that was never done, I have pictures of the shoddy workmanship, and I have a written agreement from Paul promising to repair his poor work.
A process that should have taken a few weeks is still not resolved after over a year. Paul has completely ruined our lifelong dream of owning a pool. This has been nothing but a nightmare and a very expensive project. We have yet to enjoy the pool.
