Lying Thieves! I cannot implore you enough to avoid this company. Like me and everyone else here submitting a review, you will find yourself in deep regret. This company preys on you when you are at your most vulnerable. When you are emotionally and financially vulnerable. No one wishes to be in a situation where they cannot pay their debts; however, life doesn't always deal us a fair hand. Canyon Legal Group are leaches. They are a blight on society. They deceive you into believing that they are here to help, only you find out much too late that they are really only here to steal as much of your money as they can before you figure them out. This is why they take all of their fees out upfront....which is against the law. They try to skirt it by applying $50 to your saving account while they steal $1400 for their "fees." They claim they are resolving accounts for you; however, in the first two years of my four-year contract, they resolved only two accounts totaling less than a thousand dollars. I paid them well over $20,000.00 in the first two years in fees and they resolved two accounts for less than $1k???? Now, I am at the end of my 4-year contract, and they are telling me that I need to extend my program because I still have $18,000.00 in unresolved debt!!! That means more fees for them! And, it means that they did not do their job. The job that I have already paid $26,000.00 for. This is the very definition of incompetence, misrepresentation of their ability, and blatant thievery! Unfortunately for me, I did not find this out until July of this year having been with them since September of 2019. They were supposed to give me monthly reports. I did not receive a single one. They were supposed to give me an annual review. I did not receive a single one. Their Dashboard on their website is never up-to-date. I called MULTIPLE times for the past year asking if We were on track for completion in September 2023. They assured me that we were and that I would not need additional funds. They literally lied to my face (or ear in this case) every single time, until last month. I requested an estimate to completion and their response.....You will be $18,000.00 short and will need to extend your program. I was then told that the contract was only an estimate. I don't know about you, but any contract that is off by nearly 20% screams utter incompetence. The Canyon Legal Group are criminals. Criminals who are preying on consumers who need help, but instead, they are taken advantage of.
One more thing. I did not find out until I re-reviewed the contract. They buried a waiver to file a Class Action Lawsuit in the contract. What does that tell you about their motive and their intentions? They want to steal our money and prevent us from coming together to sue their a*s for fraud. These people deserve to be locked in prison for life!
I signed up with Canyon in January 2019. They we well aware of the amount of credit cards ,and the balances. Their claim was that they typically began nogotations with creitors after 6-9 months in the program. They said they would send letters that I was entering their program and that I no longer needed to be in touch, because they now would have power of attorney.
They estimated I would need to send them approx. 800.00 a month. About 8 months later, they said if I really wanted to see progrss I wouls have to increase the amount to approx. 1,000. a month.
Around this time I began receiving summons from court, so I began to contact Canyon regularly. I was convinced by their representaives not to worry, that this is all normal. I would speak to a rep reguarly, they would say they would be in contact with me, and I would reach out, and I was told this person was moved to a new department. This happened 4-5 times. I then asked to speak to a supervisor, and he said mine was an unusual case, and that Is is quite unusual to receive the amount of summons.
At this point, I was in the program a year, and they had only placed 4 of my acounts in payment plans. These accounts had balances of 4,000 dollars or less. I was very concerned that they were not more aggressive with my Discover account that had a balance of 14,000 dollars.
I received a letter of garnishment of pay from my employer and last week decided to remove myself from their services. I beieve they are a scam.
