Payment processing company, MBL Media LTD, puts itself between me and my State's DMV so to be employed to pay DMV fees. The DMV fee was just as easily paid at the DMV. I think this only worked because I was unfamiliar with my State's DMV website.
The company charges a $40 service fee and a $5 payment processing fee in addition to the fee owed at the DMV. They are not classically PISHING. They didn't contact me. They used prioritzed web search results to get to me.
While typing a web-address, to a browser address bar a list of completions is suggested. Selecting a suggestion that is the apparent completed web address resulted in a search result, not entry of that selected web address. This began the misdirection. It turned out my State's DMV wasn't in the top search results. One of the top results in my case was MBL Media’s website. MBL Media’s websites do not primarily make obvious that the website is not affiliated with a DMV.
