During my vacation in Saint-Donat-de-Montcalm, I visited a Cafe in the nearby town, Cafe Marius. On their menu, they do not put down the choices of smoothies, only the word smoothies. I was then forced to ask the cashier what type of smoothies they offer and she only said "strawberry-basil or mango-ginger". The cashier did not disclose any information of traces of nuts in smoothies.
Usually, nuts in smoothies is not a common thing and an individual would not even think that they put nuts in smoothies. After tasting the smoothie, we asked the employees if there were any nuts in there and they said yes, almonds. We were shocked and tried asking to get another drink or a refund but they only rudely responded by, "sorry we are closed".
We then contacted the owner of the restaurant and voiced our concerns about this severe issue. And the owner had no remorse or concern whatsover for nut-allergy people. We suggested he put a sign or a warning to let customers know that they put nuts in products that normally do not have a chance of containing nuts, but rudely refused and stated "I do not know where you are from, but here, this is how it is".
I am from the same province and his statement was unprofessional. The restaurant does not want to hold accountability for their mistake and could cause a severe problem for people who are allergic to nuts.
