Burkett Companies Charles Burkett, Wendy They continuously stole money from all their tenants. Several Apartments air conditioners broke in the middle of summer and it took them over a month to fix. Some units short-circuited in that time and continuously Drew power causing a normal electric bill of $60 go to $560 and when tenant complained about it they said that the air conditioner is actually the tenant's responsibility. Even though the air conditioner is on the roof and they do not allow you on the roof because of insurance purposes so they tell you you're responsible for something you cannot see inspect or touch. Another tenants heat went out the first week of winter first cold snap complaint was made they did not fix it for 4 months then winter was over. And refuse to reimburse lieutenant for the days he had to take his family somewhere else to stay because they had a 18 month old baby and it was below 50 degrees in the apartment.

They also wrote up a letter as if the tenant had written it and put his name at the bottom and tried to get him to sign it absolving the landlords responsibilities them so they moved 4 the previous stated issues never being properly taken care of. Upon month lease was to end they tried to force the tenant to pay the last month's rent twice. Move in fees were as first month's rent last month's rent security deposit key deposit all on separate checks or money orders. Upon last month of lease they try to force tenant to pay last month's rent twice and denied the fact they were paid last month's rent a van moving in stating they've never required that. The person stating this did not even work for the company at that time nor could speak intelligently about the situation in any way. One day the tenant came home and there was a 3 Day eviction notice paper taped to his front door stating to either pay that month's rent OR move out within 3 days and surrender the apartment.

After all the things that they've done to this tenant they decided they are not getting one more penny from them so they moved out before the allotted 3 days and surrendered the apartment. Now even after all this they still sent an email demanding the rent money and also reporting it to the tenants credit report damaging their credit. In the 3 day eviction notice illegal paperwork they tape for the front door it stated as follows. Burkett Properties Inc hereby demands payment of the rent amount past due or (OR) possession of the premises within 3 days from the date of delivery of this notice. That was paragraph one paragraph two states your failure to comply with either of the above alternative within the state of time will result in eviction proceedings with legal costs and attorney's fees against you in addition to all amounts of rent owed. So as you can see there wasn't one solution there were two alternatives to resolve this the second alternative of moving within the three days was what the tenant took and they still just want to be vindictive for no reason
