Budget Van Lines Inc. Reviews

DO NOT USE BUDGET VAN LINES IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR BELONGINGS.

Never filed a complaint for anything before. I hired Budget Van Lines to facilitate moving from North Augusta SC to Los Angeles CA, pickup on 8/8/2021. I had a 1 bedroom apartment worth of belongings to move.

First there was a massive delay. The contract said 21 days until delivery, I did not receive my belongings until 9/12/2021. 20-25% of my belongings were lost. More were damaged. I paid an extra $130 to pack my TV, which was lost and was never packed in a TV box to begin with. They dismantled my kitchen table somewhere in transit and lost the legs, leaving me with a big piece of wood.

They lost 4 medium boxes, 1 large box, 1 office chair, 2 black pelican cases, 1 large suitcase, and our rug among other things. Nearly every box that arrived looked extremely beat up. Plastic bins were cracked and broken along with their contents. Broken shelf. Broken cabinet.

Now I have filed a claim against the moving company itself, but not Budget Van Lines yet. They have stopped responding to emails despite me being very courteous. If nothing else, I hope that no one else falls victim to this scam and if this can stop just one person from using their services I will feel a little better.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

The issues began with their shop manager named Eddy, when I asked to cancel the move contract as I was going to sell the furniture instead. Eddy was aggresively asking questions about my plans with my furniture which at that time I told him was none of his concern and to proceed with trnsferring the amount paid for the furniture move to the auto transport only. The next issue began when ther was a $33.00 refund owed to me due to the cancellation of the move contract

. I was told that a manger had to assist and then given the run around for 2 weeks until I had enough and calle dto cancel the auto transport as well on November 9th,2020. I was told that it would be cancelled yet again but on November 16th, 2020 the issue remained which I was very irritated with Eddy and all of the staff at ega Van Lines at this point and had a very heated conversation on the phone. Eddy refused to refund me and said he would add my concerns to the notes. Eddy also tried to convince me that I asked him to keep the auto transport order in play with Mega Van Lines which is clearly a lie. I have called and emailed with my desires to cancell all orders with this company.

Michelle Karpov is another manager and also very deceitful she appears nice and helpful at first but is just trying to get your money and then you never hear from them again. Please stay away from MEGA VAN LINES and BUDGET VAN LINES which both promote each other. Please do not do business with these companies at any capacity they are deceitful and deplorable people.

Budget Van Lines was the move from HELL! Budget Van Lines does not vet the folks they "sub" out to do the moving. After a detailed description of what was to be moved they underbid to get me in the door. Then The particular movers that actually showed up were called "Twin Movers". They showed up late, spoke very little English, spent 18 hours (in one day) to move us, came with fewer people than quoted, tried to charge us over 2K MORE than was quoted (after WE spent a week pre-packing many items, basically did the work for them), never gave us the weight of the truck (before or after the loading), loaded guns without taking down Serial numbers, stole products from my home, packed items in expensive wardrobe boxes that didn't need to be (items were NOT wardrobe items), would not return my calls after the move. My recommendation is to RUN from these guys. BUDGET WASHES THEIR HANDS BUT ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR WHO THEY SUB OUT TO DO THEIR BUSINESS FOR THE!! Budget Van Lines was the move from HELL. Budget Van Lines does not vet the folks they "sub" out to do the moving. The particular movers that actually showed up were called "Twin Movers". My recommendation is to RUN from these guys.

Horrible Company. Real nice and courteous until after esigning the 1st contract then they took $1355.28 from me And then started saying they did it wrong so needed me to esign a second contract which i would not do.. I said i cancel give me a refund because i was also being told it was not Only weight based but Also inventory based now. Then they sent me a 3rd contract which Again i said no (even on 3rd contract they left messages on my phone that they still forgot some charges??) so again i told them And emailed them that i was canceled.. I told them that they changed the contract which nullifies the original contract!! So they weré calling my Mom asking her to esign it for me, very unethical. No movers came because I canceled but the cancelation lady with Budget said no refund of my $1355.28 because that was their broker fee (so this company is just the broker who then sticks you with whatever moving company they decide to go with, which you have no say so about) then she rudely hung up on me while i was still talking. So no services received, they weré unethical And rude!!! While i am out all that money? That is a huge broker fee that doesn't event count towards the actual movers, wow!! This was the Las Vegas branch..

This was a complete and total scam right from the beginning Everything that I was told by the sales rep Chris Thompson was a lie. First, this company does not operate its own trucks. They are a broker. Lie #1. 2. I was given a quote for a 3400 pound move, all inclusive at $2400. I was very clear about everything that was needed to be done, including the use of a shuttle van because the space was too small for a semi. So my quote included a shuttle truck at no cost. When the movers that budget hired got here, they charged me $3100 (even though I was at less weight than my quote) They did not bring a shuttle, so instead charged me $350 for "long carry". Budget also charged $234 on my credit card that wasnt in my contract ANYWHERE. Last, I was practically forced into giving them $150 tip on pickup, and I assume they will do the same at delivery. This company is a scam and they will say ANYTHING to get you to use them. Once theyve collected their deposit from you, forgetting about talking to the sales rep again. He will not answer emails or phone calls. Stay away.

Budget Van Lines and Big Boy Moving & Storage was an absolute nightmare. Their customer service ended at the time of booking. Budget Van Lines entered into a contract with us giving us a verbal quote and stating there would be no additioal fees other than weight increase, if any. Additionally, we would pay 1/3 at booking via credit/debit; 1/3 at pick up via credit/debit; and the remaning 1/3 at delivery, cash only. Despite repeated phone call on the scheduled pick up date; the carrier never came. We had already dismantle our furniture and were required to be out of our present residence at the end of that day. The moving carrier came a day later with no reasonable explanation and the nightmare continued; they refused to accept the 1/3 payment at pick up via credit/debit unless we incurred an additional sur-charge.

After pick up our items were delivered and without proper proof of increased weight we were told that our quote would increase due to extreme weight. Show us proof of the actual weight we demanded; never received and still to date have not received same. Then, the Delivery driver then pretty much told us that he would hold our furniture hostage on his truck unless we pay, $50.00, for a long carry fee. One would think in an effort for good customer service that would have been waived given the one day delay and the refusal to honor the pick up agreement made in the contract. We handed over the $50 and when we later complained we were told that same was not documented on our paperwork and carrier denies receiving same. In our frustration, perhaps we did not pay attention to make sure the $50.00 was properly documented. The fact is after paying an invoice in excess of $3500.00 it would be foolish to dispute a mere $50.00. Consumer beware. Stay away from both Budget Van Lines and Big Boy Moving & Storage. Not only were they not reliable but more importantly they were DISHONEST!!!!!!!!!
