Brookline college is asking me to pay $5500 plus dollars for dropping out for medical reasons. Back in October 2014 I had a traumatic brain injury and for a few weeks I couldn’t attend school because of the consequences from that injury. My family informed Brookline college and instead on placing me on a medical leave they continued to charge me for classes I didn’t attend. The school dean wasn’t trying to get me to withdrawn from school knowing I was having such a difficult hard time trying to keep myself focused. I presented all my medical paperwork when I had to go back but the female German lady who’s the dean was not trying to let me drop out the program. In fact they wouldn’t tell me exactly when it was a safe time to withdraw from the school just to keep me stuck. Eventually after going to school not learning anything I demanded to witdrawl and drop out the program because of my medical issues but unfortunately for me they charged me 5500 plus dollars saying they where forced to give back the money the department of education sent in to help me pay for the classes. Now I’m in debt so many thousands of dollars with high interest and unable to pay for my loans. They lied to me about assisting with employment just to get me to sign up for the 50 thousand dollar criminal justice program. To top it off every class we had was always lectured and we where encouraged to copy down the notes the teacher left on the board and we would get quizzed exactly what was his notes. We had a teacher be fired in the middle of class. She would always be late and we would go ours without getting any education but yet we where being charged for attending the class. I can truly attest and if I have to go to court I will testify against them. If you where to go back and look at all student tests you’ll notice how rare it was for someone to fail these classes. It’s a total rip off attending these colleges.
2009 to 2012 received a degree of science in Healthcare administration upon a job offer at a local hospital . They were unable to verify that they checked my high school diploma upon getting me the loans for the gratis of a but 25, 000 dollars. Needless to say I never got t the position . I lost my copy in a hurricane in Alabama
During my first appointment with a school adviser, I was initially told that a drug felony from my past would not inhibit me from obtaining my certification through the school, nor would it disqualify me from finding a career in the studied field. I met with a financial adviser who said I did not qualify for financial aid but I could find their direct loan options more beneficial however I would still be paying almost $200 monthly to attend. I would need a cosigner as well as an emergency contact but the sole person responsible for all payments would be myself. Once I began classes, the first teacher I had was excellent! No complaints. The second, unfortunately was unqualified for her position, did not have a set curriculum and was incredibly unknowledgeable when it came to mental illness and women's reproductive health. It did not feel like a safe space. Once I had switched to the night class schedule, I began having issues with my credits- they seemed to lose important information I needed on file for me to continue my education. I spoke with a separate adviser as well as a teacher I did not have class with at the time who informed me that, yes, I MIGHT be eligible to receive my certification IF I tested well and presented my case to a board of nurses and school staff during the final stages of the program and would not know what the consensus would be until after I had completed the classes. There would be the definite possibility I could complete the program without the ability to receive any certification for it. Afterwards, I did a bit of research online and found that I would not be able to find a job in my field due to my drug felony. Former students and graduates relaid their experiences where the certification received from Brookline was not acceptable for use in some states and the students would be required to attend a community college in order to earn proper education. At that point, I had decided to speak with the staff to terminate my enrollment. I was told I would likely not owe anything more besides personal book fees because I was pulling myself out of the program early and I had been paying the school directly per month. Fast forward to today, the current cosigner and emergency contact are being continually harassed despite the change of address I had notified the school of on several occasions so they could send me whatever was necessary to resolve the problems at hand. I am tired of receiving emails for scam "loan forgiveness" that are seemingly non-reputable. I am tired of receiving phone calls stating that I owe over $50k when the entire program was only supposed to max to $15k. I am tired of this sham of a school harassing my family. I am trying to move forward in life. This is holding me back. Bailey ("Sonny") Phoenix, Arizona
Brookline college promises job placement but after they get the money from loans they forget all about the students. I had to argue with them about getting money back that I was owed , they tried to keep my money. I wish I would have known what I know now , I would have not have went to this despicable school. Do not go here if you want true education , this school is fraud.
