We are senior citizens and members of AARP, as members we participate in AARP's Rewards for Good Program. This program enables you to earn points to purchase products at a discount. My wife likes Brighton Jewelry and Accessories and in September 2015 I bought her over $200.00 in Brighton Jewelry from AARP Rewards for Good program. One of the pair of earring posts broke after being worn no more than 3 times. I contacted Brighton consumer care and was told that their warranty only applied to merchandise purchased from their stores. After going on line and researching Brighton's warranty I found this information not to be true. I sent Brighton an email with the order receipt from AARP listing the item and that I spent $200.00 on Brighton jewelry. Brighton would do nothing and transferred me from customer service representative to customer service representative. I went on Brighton's site and rated the earring as being poorly made and not being satisfied with Brighton's customer service. A customer service representative from Brighton contacted me and told me to contact AARP Rewards for Good and have them handle the warranty repair. AARP Rewards for Good agreed that Brighton should have honored their warranty, but ordered new earring for my wife and told us to discard the old ones. A representative from Brighton contacted me when I email them and put ob line what occurred. Brighton said they would gladly repair the earring because I had a "valid receipt for their purchase". I explained that AARP took care of the matter and Brighton said "they would sent my wife a free gift for her inconvenience". Needless to say my wife received nothing. I make it my policy to record any transaction with customer service department and advise them that I am doing this. We went away for Thanksgiving vacation and when we returned Brighton emailed me several emails stating that "after reviewing my information they would gladly repair or replace the earring under their warranty". I am sorry but I strongly believe that Brighton's customer service is lacking and that the company is only profit driven and not customer service orientated.
