I received a phone call by an automated message telling me that my Social Security Number was going to be suspended & for me to call back at a certain number. which I immediately did. Was greeted by a Brandon Gabriel claiming to be a senior commissioner with the IRS.
Brandon proceeded to tell me that there were federal charges going to be filed on me for Drug Trafficing, Money laundering & Financing a Terrorist Organization. Once he red off the charges he proceeded to tell me what the charges were based off of (to many details & to lengthy of a story for here). After he was done talking he gave me an oppertunity to tell my side if there was one. I simply told him he was out of his mind to think any of what he said had anything to do with me. I had never been to the places he was mentioning or owned any of the multitude of cars, accounts or properties he was talking about.
after i rambled on for a couple minutes he informed me that there was a way I could take care of this confidentially and could get all these charges removed from me even though they were associated with my name. But i would have to come up with $1200+ for a federal Bond which would be returned to me an hour later after he had issued a new SS# to me. then I would be free of the charges & they could track whomever was using my info and i wouldnt be affected by any of this any longer.
He almost had me sending him money too cause there was just enough fear in me to want to get this situation resolved as soon as possible. However he made a fatal mistake in his scam when he told me to go get GIFT CARDS in order to send him the bond money. once he did that I terminated the conversation, but waited for him to hang up. as soon as he did i recieved a call from Shaniqua Rodriguez claiming to be an officer with the local PD, of which we dont have a PD, so she quickly switched to local county sherrif. Even going so far as to pretend to dispatch officers on a radio in the background. what she didnt realize is after the wildfire all of the dispatching takes place in a neighboring town and there isnt anyone stationed at the local office here in town. also being a small community I know there isnt a Shaniqua working at the local office. Their story started to unravel at a few other spots along the way but i didnt catch it until he asked for the gift cards, then it all came together for me. thankfully he was a talker.
