This isn't true. I was forced to visit multiple times in person in an attempt to comply with their alleged "policies" to comply with their alleged "requirments" to cancel a membership. Each and every time I was told my membership fee would be refunded, they have no intention of refunding anything. Over a period of about 4 months I made multiple visits, wrote letters cancelling my membership and each and every time a monthly charge would appear on my credit card statment. Each personal visit was followed by a credit charge bill.
I complied with their illegale requirments to cancel and each time they billed. They made multiple promises the charges would be reversed, but after repeated contacts with my credit card company , my credit card company indicated I had only 30 days to dispute a charge and their research indicated I had an open contract with Boston Sports Clubs and the credit card company would NOT honor the reversial of charges.
Speaking about this with Boston Sports Clubs, they indicated that they have no control over my credit card company but would reimburse me for the current charge. They never did. And the cycle of lies would continue to the next month.
After complaining to multiple state consumer agencies, the consumer protection people indicated the best course of action was to file a formal complaint and hope that they don't file bancruptcy in the interim. AND "O'H YA, CANCEL YOUR CREDIT CARD." CANCELLING YOUR CREDIT CARD IS THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THIS COMPANY FROM ITS FRAUDELENT AND DECEPTIVE PRACTICE. ""We currently have over 450 current complaints about this company, AND we have active orders and investigations against them.""
This is a dirty, un-clean gym which is why I cancelled immediatly in the first place. Most of the equipment is filthy, and most of the equipment is out of order and has missing parts, etc,. the lockeer rooms are filthy and have a very strong oder of mildue and urine. I used the place litererally 2 times before trying to cancel, over all I'm out about 200 doallars in membership fees for a place that was never used and I'm out about 4 days of my life for time spenat dealing with these criminals.
You only have 30 days in most states to file a dispute with your credit cards, these people clearly were delaying again and again for the clock to time out so that they could "legally" steal from me.
