Bosley, Inc. Reviews
Starting at the initial consultation, Was told there would be no downtime - and could go to work the very next day. "you can fly out to a business trip that very night" per Dr. Timothy Ehrlich
Was never told that the head would be grotesquely shaved and sutures exposed thus preventing business meetings for a few weeks. Their MO is to get the patient on the chair on surgical day and then all disclaimers for signing and last-minute horrendous details come out! such as shaving most of the head, sutures left wide open and grotesquely visible for weeks, wounds left to bleed ...
The staff was extremely discourteous and hostile - using abusive and racial terms as "Osama" and "a**hole" (possibly mistaking me for a Muslim) and despite my repeatedly mentioning my Asian background, continued the mistreatment
No post-op pain medication was provided - reminiscent of old n**i era tactics where pain was deemed to be more tolerable by the non-white races.
When my Blood pressure went extremely low and the staff was unable to deal with it - no clue on what to do and they just stood there and did nothing. the doctor refused to address it and I felt extremely dizzy with a bp of 95/48-- yet they drove me out of the clinic so everybody could go home!
I protested the mistreatment by the nurses as they would rudely command directives to not move in the most combative and hostile manner. In response, the nurses called me a jerk for demanding my patient rights.
As soon as the procedure was done I was carelessly bandaged and rushed out the door by the staff, and since I could not see the back of my head did not noticd the heavy bleeding that was occurring
15 minutes after leaving the clinic I noticed blood dripping at the back of my neck - blood was running down my neck in streams and I was on an expressway on the way to home
I called the clinic hotline number but no one picked up, Doctor ehrlich did not giv4e me his cell phone as promised in the initial consultations if complications occurred. Upon reaching home the blood hemorrhage intensified and I was bleeding profusely. My family assisted in applying pressure and keeping the head cool with ice.
Went to Hospital emeergency room and checked in that night. Doctors were shaking their heads on the cruelest state of botched up job done by bosley. They worked on me for over an hour to stop the bleeding
Next day when we went for follow, the doctor refused to admit the seriousness of the situation and told us this is normal. He wanted me to go back home immediately and disregarded the pictures from ER I showed him
Against requests, the staff then ripped out the bandage ignoring my warnings and the bleeding resumed immediately, with blood dripping down in rivulets as the doctor continued to bully us into leaving WHILE the bleeding was continuing - [Audio recording avaioable upon request]
However the staff insisted I go home and just apply pressure despite the clearly visible bleeding. Not only was the staff unwilling to deal with the bleeding the aggressive pressuring to leave the clinic (off the premises in case I had a serious situation!) in a condition as shown in the picture was absolutely unacceptable.
Dr Ehrlich called this s "cluster f*ck" and his staff joked and callously laughed about everything while I was being bullied by the office manager into leaving the clinic
Oncer the bleeding became clearly unstoppable the office manager arranged for the staff to examine the sutures.
While the sutures were fine, the hair extraction sites were still bleeding continuously. The staff had absolutely no clue on how to address the situation
I directed the staff to do exactly what the ER physician did previously tyo stop the bleeding -- inject lidocaine and epinephrine into the wounds so the bleeding would stop
Once the staff performed the procedure requested, the bleeding stopped and I was sent home
The subsequent days were extremely painful and uncomfortable. False claims on the post-operative comfort level were blatant lies and misrepresentations
On a floow up Dr Ehtrick quickly told me the hair wasnt washed currently (no instructions were provided) and since i had dried blood from previous bleedings that oozed from their horrible procedure, ran out of the room to answer any questions
For a 20k procedure, no follow up evaluations or checkups have ever been conducted
My husband went to Bosley Hair Restoration in Beverly Hills, some years ago. He paid over $ 5,000 for hair transplant plugs. After some years, the hair transplant failed. Bosley has a Lifetime Warranty against transplant failures. Well, this very rich, Beverly Hills Penthouse Company failed to honor the lifetime warranty they have.
I guess this so called "warranty" does not mean a hill of beans. He paid good money for their services, and they will not even respond to our request for a letter of rejection of the claim for the failed hair transplant. My husband went back to see them, when he visited his brother in California on July 15th.
He and I had spoken many time to a man named Neal at Bosley. Neal knew full well, that my husband was going to see the Doctor Deutch for a CLAIM FOR A FAILED TRANSPLANT. The goal was to get Bosley to offer some refund or other compensation. Instead, this rich Dr. Deutch treated my husband like dirt and just sluffed him off like getting rid of garbage by saying that he did not have enough hair to do any transplants.
WHAT KIND OF ANSWER IS THAT! THERE WAS NO OFFER OF COMPENSATION NOR REFUND. NO OFFER OF TRYING TO GIVE HIM ANY SORT OF FREE TREATMENT. JUST GO AWAY WAS THE MESSAGE WE SEE FROM BOSLEY.
Since then, I have asked Neal many, many times for a Letter of Rejection so we can use it in any legal action we might want to take, and AS OF TODAY, we have NOT received any letter. All we get is ignored or just some excuse that the team leaders have not yet responded. Well, when do they intend to respond? Next century?
Here is what we know. My husband spent good money for hair restoration that failled. Now this company, Bosley, will NOT honor their guarantee. In short, this super rich company is not customer friendly and does not care about their failed transplants. Their company shows pictures and advertising of happy men with hair grafts. This happy pictures are not all there is.
Of course, it is easy to ignore former customers until they go away. I see there are other negative reports against Bosley. So our sad story is not unique. I want to give them one more chance to make things right, but time will tell. More later on our experience.
Signed,
2 Customers Scorned.
I have had 2 very costly hair transplant procedures done at Bosley with extremely poor results. All the transplanted hair has fallen out and the procedures have left a highly unsightly and visible scar in the donor area. In addition there's loss of sensation in entire donor area due to inevitable severance of nerves which occurs as a result of incision. A fact Bosley conveniently hides from unsuspecting patients.
Multiple after procedure visits to their offices have resulted in shirking of responsibility and endless run arounds. Bosley provides the unsuspecting patients with absolute best case scenario before and after photos which in very great majority of cases do not remotely resemble the results great majority of patients will obtain. The company absolutely refuses to honor the phony guarantee that they offer which is just one more vaguely worded tactic to hook the unsuspecting potential patients.
Upon realization of the highly disappointing results most patients will inevitably experience, Bosley's tactics include lengthy procrastinations, designed to discourage the unhappy patients, handing off the case from one person to another and concoction of phony various excuses aimed at placing the blame on a variety of unrelated outside factors such as age, skin condition, type of skin, type of hair, etc. etc.
The wise learn from the mistakes of others while fools insist on making their own. Learn from my very costly mistake and do not refer to Bosley for any hair restoration procedure. They are not honest.
Their focus is on phony lofty pie in the Sky promises backed up by extreme and rare best case scenario photos that actual patients will never experience.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
Save yourself a world of misery and lots of money by steering clear of charlatans at Bosley. If you insist on hair transplant method, you can safelly have them in places such as Turkey for about $ 1450.00
Bosley Hair Restoration & Transplant of Beverly Hills, California has ripped me off, wasted my time, refused to honor their phony guarantee and has performed an extremely substandard work. All their offices employ the same practice and procedures and their actions and methods are branch wide and company wide.
Avoid, Avoid, Avoid !!!
I received a hair transplant from Bosley. They never told me it could leave scar tissue in the FRONT of head. They gave me kenalog treatment for about 2 years to reduce scarring then stopped treatment. End result...still have scar tissue. They say I can get scalp micropigmentation from them for around $5K (that may help hide some of the scar tissue).
SUBJECT: Incomplete hair transplant procedure
On 9/2/14, I came to Bosley’s Park Ave, NYC location, and became a patient of Dr. David Alpeter. My first hair transplant procedure was performed on 9/19/14 and cost $7,750 (1,600 grafts). I was still bald; therefore, a second procedure was performed on 12/14/2015 at 1,351 grafts. The second procedure had better results, but there were still apparent bald spots and many sparse areas. Thus, a third procedure was performed on 8/19/16. I paid for 600 grafts to address density (as suggested by Dr. Alpeter on 9/2/14). He documented that on the contract. He wrote “2nd procedure for density.” He also implanted an additional 300 grafts free-of-charge to address the bald spots from the previous two (2) procedures. There were more bald areas than that, but I agreed to the quantity to avoid a confrontation.
After the third procedure, I returned to the office on 9/19/17 to discuss a fourth procedure. I still have bald spots. Progress was clearly made, but there were a few bald spots that needed to be reperformed. AT THIS POINT, I SHOULD BE ANNOYED, BUT I WAS NOT. As long as we were making progress and they were honoring there services, I was content. I feel that would have been the last procedure. Dr. Alpeter, utterly, refused to reperform the procedure. He treated me with disdain. When I arrived on 9/19/17, at 12 noon, for the 8/19/16 follow up visit, he examined me, and I explained that I am still bald in a few areas and that we made significant progress. I told him and his assistant that I have a few areas that need to be REPERFOMED and that there are a few bald spots. I showed both of them the bald areas and said that I paid $2,825 for DENSITY last time (on 8/19/16) for a total of $11,000 and that I wanted the results that I paid for. I did not tell him that I wanted to pay him more money for what was CLEARLY NOT PERFORMED. On 9/19/17, he said that I needed 800 additional grafts (500 on the left and 300 for the right side); thus, he agrees that there are bald spots. He no longer wants to guarantee his work.
Density means that the transplanted area is a bit sparse, but not bald; thus, I agreed to pay, because be documented that on 9/2/14. Bald is completely different concept.
He then told me to schedule the appointment with his assistant, and he left the room. As we were scheduling the appointment, she proceeded to charge me for the 800 grafts. I explained to her that he was REPERFOMING THE PROCEDURE FOR THE FOURTH TIME and that I am not paying for this. She left the room and came back and said that is not the doctor’s understanding and that she will call me at a later date to confirm the terms of the procedure. I told her that is not what I just discussed with the doctor; she was in the room when I spoke to the doctor. I requested to speak to the doctor, again. HE AND THE OFFICE MANAGER WERE SO UNPROFESSIONAL. THEY REFUSED TO SPEAK TO ME AND WANTED ME TO LEAVE. The only person that would talk to me is his assistant. AFTER $11,000, NO ONE WOULD TALK TO ME. I had to refuse to leave, before the doctor would meet with me for a second time just to tell me that he was not going to perform the procedure free-of-charge. He wanted me to pay for the bald areas. He told me that I was being unreasonable and that we had to agree to disagree. He also
told me that the THIRD procedure on 8/19/16 was entirely a reperformance that I agreed to pay, and that I did not pay for Density (which is what he stated in the 9/2/14 contract). Whether I paid for density or not (according to him), I AM STILL BALD in selected areas. Thus, he took $2,825 of my money that should have been included in the first and second procedures.
His assistant is an attorney (which is odd), and I felt like she was trying to put words in my mouth. She said that I paid for the procedure last time to meet him half way. THAT IS ABSURD. Why would a hair transplant assistant be an attorney unless you have been sued in the past?
Bosley should inform the prospective patients that they will only reperform the procedure ONCE and that it will take several years at the cost of the patient; irrespective of their stated policy that says that Bosley guarantees all hair transplants performed. Paragraph number eight (8) states that Bosley will replace any non-growing hair transplant grafts free-of-charge, providing only that the patient have adequate donor hair, which I have. That guarantee is false.
Summary and Resolution:
On 9/2/14, I should have been told that it would take three (3) plus years for my hair to grow, and that Bosley will only reperform the procedure ONCE. When I came into the office in 2014, they showed me all of these wonderful results of other patience. They gave me a CD that states the same (wonderful results and the services are guaranteed).
Based on the policies and guarantees that were presented to me (Paragraph number eight (8)), I agreed to become a patient.
They accepted $11,000 and then refused to talk to me and asked me to leave.
They refused to reperform the bald areas. The last meeting on 9/19/17 took one hour and 15 minutes. They made me wait 30 minutes during the time they refused to talk to me.
I came to Bosley for the name recognition for what I thought was a reputable company, and I assumed that they would assert certain guarantees.
Bosley is taking advantage of people. This process is a money pit, and they use their counsel to bully people.
On 8/19/17, I was satisfied with the reperformance; at this point, I want a refund of 800 grafts (See the last sentence in Paragraph #2, above) times $4.50 which is what I paid on 9/19/14 and 8/19/16) equals $3,600.
