Who we are? We are a 40 year old service for authors and publishers, in editing, typesetting and designing their books and covers and translating into spanish, french, chinese, and other languages. We have an excellent and honorable reputation and often accept referrals from clients. One client referred marcos orozco Book launch academy) and over 10 months we did 15 jobs Invoices) for him. Since we deliver work in 48 to 72 hours, our terms ... Which 95% of our clients adhere to, is net 3 days payment. Mostly clients pay when they get the invoice because those who pay on time get better service.
Marco had us edit and typeset a few books about mexican american businessmen and women that he charged each person in the book thousands of dollars to co-publish. On the next to last job he told us that there was a party and everyone was saying passionately how great a job we did for him and they couldn't stop talking about the beautiful job.
Then he sent another book - we proofread the book and billed him, awaiting the cover that he usually designs or sends out to do ..And any changes before typesetting. The job was invoiced 5 months ago, and never paid. We sent him statements, reminder emails, and our legal and accounting managers wrote to him. He never responded
In five months he never responded ... So, after speaking to our lawyers it was determined that the legal cost to collect this bill would exceed the amount owed by at least another thousand dollars. He did write back saying he wanted to talk to me about the job. 5 months after the payment was due, he said hed have to look up the job As if he does many jobs - he doesn't) and he'd have to have a video conversation asbout the bill, which he didn't remember anything about - even though it was sent to him 8 times in 5 months.
Before giving me that job, he asked if he should give me a deposit because the last payment he sent was late. I said i would trust him. Now, let me say don't trust him - he is dishonorable - and doesn't pay bills.
We want our money that we earned, and he refused to pay - because he wants to talk. There is nothing to talk about because he is no longer a client - we don't deal with deadbeat bad credit risks.
His opportunity to talk has passed, after 3 days... Now he's a thief!
