In addition to office work, I also totally did their expo magazine for the Fort Myers Expo - including getting ads, making ads and designing the entire magazine (something they normally paid $3000-5000 to someone to handle). I did take them to Small Claims Court, where they admitted they owed me the money, but their payment checks bounce and then stopped totally.
The owners of this business were only looking out for themselves. They "bartered" services - meaning they didn't always make vendors pay for the exhibit space, but took advantage of the services they offered in return for actual money. I worked for the last three months for no pay. I was told that they would do the Fort Myers Expo and pay me in full for all monies owed. I handled getting ads for the expo magazine, made the ads for the magazine and even ended up doing the entire magazine by myself (something that was normally outsoured for $3-5K). When the Fort Myers Expo was finished, i not only did not receive ANY past due payments, but the company then folded!
I took them to Small Claims Court and they showed up and admitted they owed me the money and agreed to a payment plan. The first check came; the second came late and the third bounced - and no further payments were made. Do not trust either of these people - Calvin Robinson or Deborah (Joy) Robinsons - they are scam artists.
