On 10/20/20, I drove two hours to the Pulaski dealership to pick up a Black Buick Encore GX and trade in the car I own. Upon arrival, the salesman Phil Muldova registered me to a Bright Blue Buick Encore GX and I had never agreed to this vehicle. He told me it was my fault and I was lying after I told him I’m not leaving with that car because it was definitely not the car I agreed to lease. He screamed at me twice in the hallway and customers stared at me. I said I was leaving, and he said hold on we can get you the Black Buick.
After putting $2,000 down and signing the lease agreement, I was contacted days later and told the VIN # on my paperwork was incorrect. I was told it is because “the girls upstairs are new and stupid”. They had a driver come to have me sign a new lease agreement and I noticed the monthly payments went up from $309.50 to $416 per month. I crossed out the dates and did not sign because the numbers were incorrect. I was then contacted and blamed for the car not going through because “I changed my mind on the color”. I never changed my mind on the color. I wanted the black buick from the beginning and never agreed to a blue buick. I explained that the reason I crossed the dates out was because the monthly payment amount was different.
They sent out a new lease agreement and the monthly payment amount was still $416. I was then sent out a 4th lease agreement which was correct and submitted. I was asked to pay $309.50 to Bob Johnson so they have my monthly payment on hand for when the lease agreement goes through. I was contacted that there was an error with the discounts they gave me and sent a 5th form with correct monthly payments. I was contacted a couple weeks later and told someone would be driving up with a 6th form for me to sign because of error with the previous form and my payments will go down to $300 per month. Meanwhile, it took the dealership over a month and several of my phone calls to pay off the loan on the vehicle I traded in. I was also told I would be receiving a check for $309 for my inconvenience and I never received this check. When I called to ask about the lease agreement and check, I was told “well if you have money owed it will come at some point”.
On December 16th, I received a notice from my car insurance saying that I may be penalized because the DMV can not verify my registration. It appears the dealership changed the vin number with my insurance and not my registration. This is affecting my employment because I drive with my personal vehicle for one of my jobs. I also have three hard credit inquiries from trying to lease this vehicle when there should only be one. I contacted the dealership on 12/16 and 12/17 expressing my concerns and I was asked “are you available today for someone to come bring you paperwork to sign?” As of December 17th, I still am not officially leasing this vehicle, I have not received my $309 I was promised, and their errors with my registration and insurance could cost me my employment and I could be penalized.
