Bluegreen Corporation Reviews

Bluegreen sales persons isolated my mother and when she reappeared informed us that se purchased a timeshare. They wanted to add us to the deed but only 4 people could be added so they said for us to call back in 30 days and they would handle that for free since they could not accomdate us on-site.

Of course, 30 days is far away from any rescission period. When we called 30 days later to add names they said each additional name would be $500 per name. I explained that the finance manager had told us it couldn't be done then and said it would be free. The representative I called told me that was untrue and of course they could have done it on-site FREE and therefore my claim that he said otherwise was not good enough for them to honor it. Why lie?

I was told that I had unnlimited bonus time but when I tried to book they informed me it was limited. In 2012 when I tried to book a reservation I was told I would first have to pay $10,632.00, I asked why and was told unpaid maintenance fees taht accumulate even AFTER the timeshare has been paid in-full.

I was assured that after it was paid in-full there were no more fees and the sooner we paid the mortgage off, the sooner we would have no fees and maintenance costs. I was absolutely shocked I had to pay 8 years of maintenace costs to use a timeshare with a motgage paid in-full. I paid the fees and made the reservation and Bluegreen called and said I was REQUIRED to attend an Owner Update Presentation to keep using my Bluegreen Timeshare Benefits.

They said it was mandatory to even keep the reservation I paid $10,632.00 to use and if I did not schedule it then that I would have my reservation cancelled until I did schedule it. At this "Owner's Update" they pulled up my package and told me it was obsolete. They told me if I wanted to continue to use Bluegreen (after I had just paid the $10,632.00 to continue using it) that I MUST upgrade and it was not optional.

When I asked how I booked there if it was obsolete and he stated that was why the meeting was mandatory, specifically just to upgrade my account for further use or to inform me that we could no longer use it if we didn't. When I asked the costs he said I wouldn't notice and that the mortgage ws still $0.00 but he refused to answer.

When I told them I had to go get my purse they refused to allow me to leave, yes, they wouldn't allow me to leave and said I could just get their credit card and put it on there. I was approved and they put $1,500.00 on the card as a down payment and said the monthly payments would be $273.36. I asked to read the contract before signing it and was told no, that until I signed it they could not let me have it due to confidentiality and that I would get a copy afterwards.

They finally let me leave after 6 long hours. I recieved my copy and realized that the numbers were wrong and the next morning I immidately went to the salesman and asked what this meant. He said the monthly payment amount was a mortgage (not $0.00) and the fees would be separate and not included.

They told me I could not cancel because it was a contract and only later did I find out that was a lie and I had 3 days. I obviously requested cancellation the NEXT MORNING but they said a contract was binding and I could not do anything but honor it. Thinking I had no other option I tried to book in March 2014, there was no availability. In March 2014 we went to orlando, FL and a Bluegreen salesperson called to schedule another Owner Update Meeting.

I said no, absolutely not and was told it was mandatory and not attending would result in breach of contract and legal consequences as well as void our memebership benefits but not the monetary obligations. She stated all Bluegreen Members must attend these meetings yearly to continue using benefits. I was told it would only take an hour but we were stuck in there for over 6 hours.

I was old that my 2 sisters and my mother had to attend as well since they were also on the deed. I told her only 1 of my sisters would be there in FL with me and she needed to watch the children. She stated they had an area for children. I told her unless she was paying the airfare for my other sister and my mother they would not be there.

Once we arrived they said my oldest niece could not be in the play area or the meeting, I asked what I should do wih her then and they got approval for her to stay in the play area. My rep was Max, I explained I could never book anything as there were no availabilities, he said an upgrade would give me priority booking dates and locations. He said an upgrade would also give me access to a personal advisor, and that the upgrade costs were so minimal I could pay with exrta points to cover it.

Once again they refused to allow me time to read the contract although I requested to do so. 7 hours later (with children waiting) we were allowed to leave, my first bill arrived and those "minimal costs" I "wouldn't even notice" were TRIPLED. In October 2017 Bluegreen called and said due to hurricanes I could purchase extra points for virtually nothing. I said no. The lady said if I did buy them right then she would consolidate all my loans and lower the monthly payments.

I laughed and explained the previous experiences I had already had with Bluegreen. She then informed me that none of those meetings are mandatory ever. I asked how much to remove my mom from the deed and she said $500, I complained and she said she would waive that and send a notary to me and that she added 6,000 free points.

The paperwork was overnighted and I completed it. In Feb 2018 I allowed my friend to use a reservation in Las Vegas and Bluegreen called her insisting she attend a presentation. I was livid. How can they call my guests and pressure them and threaten to cancel thier reservation? I called and corrected the situation seriously ashamed.

I have been unable to book anything unless it's 13 months or more out. They keep raising the maintenace costs while limiting my ability to use the timeshare any. I sent them letters and made complaints once I discovered I could have cancelled before and that these meetings were not mandatory, nor was the "upgrade" that was actually a contract on a new timeshare and that they could not have cancelled my reservations after charging me $10,632.00 to use it.

I requested a cancellation of my contracts and a full refund. I have only been able to use this timeshare 12 times which seems like alot until you realize that's over 3 year period and only 45 total days of use. Of those 45 days I was required to attend a meeting each time (I thought) for an entire day of my stay meaninf that of those 45 vacation days Bluegreen consumed 12 days leaving me with the use of only 33.

I don't think it would have cost me the $10,632.00 I paid out to use the timeshare to book those vacations, I know that the $105,530.00 I have invested already and already paid out to Bluegreen is certainly more than it would cost me on my own. They agreed to "work with me" and terminate my contracts, they foreclosed one and ruined my credit, and only after I refused to pay another dime.

I want my money back, all of it minus a fair amount that is reasonable for the times I have used it. I want the $10,632.00 back because they didn't need to charge me that just to sell me another and lie about it all. I could have went to any presentation FOR FREE wihtout no need to pay that. I ahve invested all that money in 2 useless pieces of property because I believed them when they lied to me.

Don't believe a word about saved points. Once you save points, they are worthless. The become restricted and you can't use them anywhere. We pay 2500/year plus the 700+ in maint fees and the only thing we can do is write off the interest on our taxes. The worse financial decision we have ever made. I am active duty military and deployed right after we brought our 5000pts timeshare account. We explained this to the salesman and they said it would be fine. That we could save them and then use them when I redeployed. Liars and they are full of deceptive practices. They new I was in the military and acted like they cared about the military and our families. But really they just preyed on our desire to take a vaction together when I returned from Afghanistan. This is a predatory company. Especially to Service members.

Two months ago me and my wife went to a demontration for a vacation club from Bluegreen. WOW what a shame. We flew from Connecticut to stay in a cheap motel with cigarette smell all overand, dirty beds. We complained to the Bluegreen company, and after several hours we had to call them back and they found a more decent place for us. After going to their presentation of about 3 hours we ended up buying the less amount of points we could from them because we like to travel. The main advantage that we saw in the deal was 90% availability of their property at any time. When we left South Carolina we came back to Connecticut to find out that the gift cards they had given us for restaurants can only be used at places that are not really restaurants but more like sandwiches corner stores, and other places me and my wife don't frequent. The only decent one was a diner we use, but you have to spend a munimmum of $50 in order to be able to use the card.

Before leaving South Carolina they scheduled us to a second follow up new owners report presentation. One month later we found ourselves driving for five hours to New Hampshire to a New Owners presentation for a product we had not yet used. Upon arrival to the presentation we realized it was just another chance for them to try to sale us more points at a rate even more expenssive that the first one. How can we give an opinion in a product we have not even use? They offered to add my wife to my account so that we can get more cash in the credit card they had given me in the first trip. After telling them several time not to run my wife's credit report, they sent my wife a card with a different account number and they had done a credit check on her. This is an investigation issue. Bluegreen is one of the most unethical agencies I have ever had the unfortunate opportunity to deal with. Don't buy into it. The sales person will treat you like you are a family member and then when you don't buy, you will notice the difference in his or her face. Don't feel guilty for not buying. It's your money and they still get other people that will buy. I will wait to make some use of it and then get rid of it.
