I inquired for service hookup at my location due to my children schooling online. Blue ridge responded to my inquiry with a $28,000 + hookup fee estimate to extend their lines 1mi. There are 20+ houses plus multiple businesses in between where their service ends and my house.
Their costs would be compensated with new customer contracts alone. Plus there are rural internet upgrade grants and forgivable loans from the federal govt that our area would qualify for. But instead this company looks to profit doubly off of the consumer in the midst of statewide restrictions and challanges for local families during a pandemic. Shameful company.
This is on behalf of my 70 year old mother, she was offered a package and at the time it was worth it, with only a verble notification that this said paccage would go up every 12 months. THERE WAS NOTHING SENT IN WRITTING . SHE WAS TOLD SHE COULD CANCEL IF SHE LIKES. This is sad . They do not offer special raits for seniors on a fixed income. She has no choise but to pay it. Even though its only $20 more a month, THAT TAKES AWAY FROM HER FOOD MONEY . I am speaking for all elderly who are on a fixed income !! The days are gone were you have a antena on the roof and rabitt ears on the TV. This so called State of Pa says they help there elderly, The money erned on the LOTTO was suppose to go to help them . I would love to know were is that money? In a rurel area everything is done by volintears ,To know that all cable companyes are just a sub diff of the state ,well lets just say the words they speak are emty .
