We DO NOT recommend Blue Meadow Landscaping from Frankin Lakes NJ.
We received a bid from Blue Meadow Landscaping from Frankin Lakes NJ to implement a landscape design created by a 3rd design company. The bid looked fine & was reasonable. We were told our yard would take 3-4 moths to complete to & it turned into nearly 2 years
We own multiple properties & for years have used many contractors to do anything from small jobs, to major remodels. We've always had wonderful experiences with other contractors & have never seen a company as poorly managed as Blue Meadow Landscaping and their "founder" John A. Meeks.
Plants were not ordered correctly, materials were shoddy, & there was little to no management. John A. Meeks (the companies owner) used his contracted managers to handle every aspect of the job. We really liked the work crew that worked for Blue Meadow Landscaping, especially Dan Muller and Jeff, and the whole workforce & felt terrible as they were given minimal direction. They were unable to provide an answer on any specifics because John A. Meeks was nowhere to be found.
When the project was near completion, our pergolas which were ordered by John A. Meeks started to collapse when the winds exceeed 20 mph. It was frightening. We were concerned that they would collapse into our home and injure our children. They swayed back and forth creaking and banging into our home. I should add the owner of Blue Meadow never came by at ANY point to examine the job at any point during those 2 years. He sent his job manager (Dan) at all times. At this visit, Dan blamed the pergola designer for the issues; while the designer said they had never heard of an issue where a properly installed pergola would collapse. They had viewed pictures sent to them in making that determination. Blue Meadow said "there's not much we can do." "You paid for the landscaping job but we think you chose bad pergolas from our options." Shocked that they put the responsibility on us for picking "the wrong pergolas" from their options. We were dumbfounded. We didn't have anything to do with picking any pergolas other than the 4-5 options they provided to us. We called the owner and and he refused to help us to fix the issue. After nearly 50 phone calls and text over the course of 3 months the company owner John A. Meeks finally picked up the phone. He said "I know who you are..but we're busy with other customers. Someone may call you back later on." He is the single worst owner of ANY company that I've ever dealt with.
We'll never use Blue Meadow Landscaping ever again. Had there been some accountability & follow up, I wouldn't have written this review. But, here we are, job allegedly completed, invoices paid, and our pergolas held together by guide wires everywhere. Our backyard looks like a zip line maze. John A. Meeks knew we weren't happy & has done absolutely nothing to resolve the problem. He refuses to replace the pergolas with new one's because "the company he bought them off of didn't give him a guarantee." He has turned his problem into our problem after we had paid his company for the pergolas and every single bill on time. We wasted thousands of dollars using Blue Meadow Landscaping. John A. Meeks you are an absolute disgrace in how you treated this issue. This is YOUR problem and not ours. We have to live with your problems after we paid you. See you in Court. Your day of justice will be coming. Your a disgrace John A. Meeks
