Well being a former employee for 13 months, I have several factual and provable statements about this company and I’m displaying my 1stA.
First, they use a rejuvenator sealer which by the sealer being used is of a coal tar / coal tar pitch based material. This material is flammable and has a flash point that is pretty low in my opinion. Coal tar/ coal tar pitch is a known carcinogen, harmful to breath around, harmful to people living around the cured product as the dust from wearing product will go down our storm drains and inhalation hazard to all. Please do your own research and find out why that product is being banned all over the United States. If selecting this contractor to do your work, get a copy of the SDS sheet and bill of lading and do the homework yourself on how high the coal tar / coal tar pitch content is. If you want something that is environmentally friendly, go to an emulsion based sealer and always check SDS sheet prior to applying.
Second, very unethical practices by the owner.
He has contracted and performed work in the following states:
(did not obtain a contractor license for each state worked in, no business license was applied for nor income/wage taxes being paid for each of the states listed below)
Oregon, California, Nevada, Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma. He also hired and paid an undocumented worker cash under the table for a time period. Other former employees have shared other awful things this owner has done to line his pockets but I will not post something I do not have documentation for.
Third, I was hired to be Operations Manager and therefore was placed with a salary (documented in my offer letter with a 40 hour average work week). Well, due to staffing shortages and lack of talent, I became a working field foreman in short order. In 13 months of employment I worked 3,943 hours with zero overtime paid to me and was also denied when let go. If you look up the labor laws, I was misclassified and due compensation. I was also denied my profit sharing percentage when let go.
Fourth, I can only describe the quality of work I’ve seen in the last few months as “you’re kidding me, right?” There are a few project post my employment that you need to go look at: Lowell Scott middle school, go by and take a look at the stripe project there. The yellow curbs and lines in the concrete look as if the person was intoxicated. I personally drove by this site and witness the owner himself striping this project and it’s the worst stripe job I’ve seen in my 25 years of experience in this field.
Mary McPherson elementary school, the red line on the side walk rivals the previous job in quality. Another project, the business complex on the North East corner of Easy Jet and Eagle Rd. Wow, the asphalt patches are horrible and sealer sprayed all over curbs and parking curbs.
Fifth, some equipment being used is not road worthy or safe, it’s not labeled correctly for the materials being transported. Flammable transport labels are removed and not used when they transport their flammable material.
As being contacted by other former employees that shared their experiences with me, sparked this review and statements of this company.
Any negative reply to this review by the company, owner, etc will be only to try to discredit my factual and provable statements but I’ll add this in there: I would like to address the “he stole tools” statement said by a couple former employees to myself. Upon my departure, I have an email stating that “We have received all of our equipment tools and accessories to include gas card, CAT card and Ramp card, vehicle keys and shop keys.” So please stop lying about me and telling others I stole from you, it was me who had to go to your house to retrieve my property that you were using post employment.
