1.0 star rating I am very saddened than this store didn't cooperate with me in "returning" our baby Sun Conure. I say return in parenthesis because the bird is not in my possession since its still not weaned. The day of the sell, 11 DEC 2016, Jenny (spelling?) the owner of BirdSmart, verbally told me that there was no maintenance required with that bird and that the bird required full payment. We paid $539.99 that day. The receipt says we only had to give a 50% deposit....ugh. Later on in the week, I found out the bird needs nail clippings every other month, 1 wing clipped, can release toxins from its feathers if the room is not well ventilated, baby bird care handling, etc. I was verbally educated with incorrect facts by BirdSmart prior to the purchase and am seeking a full refund. When I first brought this to the owner's attention, on 19 DEC 2016, she said she would try to work out a deal with me outside of court. I tried calling BirdSmart several times over the past couple of days to follow up, and have been unsuccessful at contacting the owner. I've also tried emailing them at [email protected] (as stated on their website) and have also been unsuccessful. One of the employees just notified me via phone that I'm basically sh#@ out of luck. I'm sad that this baby bird is going to miss out on an opportunity to go to a nice home while it's still a baby. I would imagine the demand would be higher. But, I'm even more saddened that the owner didn't keep her word on trying to work out a deal with me. The "local" store didn't come through for me this time around. It makes me sad because my family would occasionally visit BirdSmart over the past several years....we have been loyal to them. But, apparently, the feeling is not mutual. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYBODY AND WOULD ADVISE ALL FUTURE CUSTOMERS TO BE CAUTIOUS OF BIRDSMARTS SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICES!

Well, A few weeks ago I took my bird, Stewart, to BirdSmart for consignment. We went over some terms and other details. We proceeded to sign a sheet with an unknown sale price. The owner of this store told me she would call me in a few days after the evaluate him. In that time, she would be able to determine a price for my bird. Days went by and I had not received a phone call. I assumed that they had not finished evaluating him. I then decided to call them. I asked them if he had been evaluated or if they had decided on a price for him. No, they had not. The young man on the phone told me he would go and speak with the owner. When he returned, he told me a price and I said I didn't agree and I would talk to my husband about it. I told him I had the intention of picking him up. Today, October 9th 2015, I decided to go check on him and pick me up. When I get there, it's a mess and they can't find my selling contract anywhere.

They then proceed to tell me he has sold. At this point I am completely shocked and very disappointed. They told me they were not going to put him for sale until I called back. Well they did. When the owner confronted me she was extremely hostile and defensive. Even if I had agreed on a price, they also originally told me that if he did sell, they would call me!! They began yelling at me and telling me I was wrong. There hasn't been an agreed price on the sheet and I had asked them not to put him out for sale yet. All she could tell me was to leave their store. Instead of making a simple solution, they tried to physically force us out of the store. They decided to call the cops which I felt was fine. She also proceeded to tell me she would not pay me!
