Most of the staff treat people like cattle and when they have a scheduling error, conflict or misplace your medical file, YOU are the one who pays with your time and actually lose money. The Center Manager is a good guy here in Orem, However, the midlevel management is a nightmare. They are policy robots with no empathy for donors and they do not possess any semblance of interpersonal skills. I am surprised these people got promoted in the first place. Either Grifols Corporate or the Center Manager lacks the wherewithal to promote wisely.
This last Wednesday when a tech named "Josh" was extremely rude to me and I called him on it, when I returned to donate on Friday I was told I was not allowed to donate. No reason was given...no explanation if this was a ban or a deferrment. The midlevel manager with black hair and black round glasses simply stated when I asked if I am donating, 'That is not happening."
I made the trip to come here and I get called into what is tantamount to the principles office in school. What kind of communication is that? I have consistently donated plasma for 10 years. I just started going to this Orem Biomat one year ago and I have never enjoyed my experience at this location. There are a few exceptions with techs who rise above all this, but interestingly they are not promoted, nor is their wonderful demeanor exemplified.
A month prior to that I asked a tech what his name was to which he responded, "Why do you want to know my name? I don't know you." What a response! I was shocked and this was my first run in with midlevel management which I found to be not helpful at all. (The tech's name was Chase).
I also have received annoying and incomplete text solicitations which are incomprehensible. I have been told about scheduling conflicts and I have to adjust my schedule for them or they will not let me donate at the former agreed and scheduled time. I have wasted trips here, they have misplaced my medical file and countless other inconviences which cost me money and time.
They took out the televisions. The only Plasma center I have ever been to which does not have television. Why? Because the employees spent too much time watching TV. You see, rather than address their own interior mismanagement they punish and inconvenience the donors.
So if you want to be treated like a toddler and spend a lot of time and your own money go to Biomat Orem, but if you have a passion for the recipients of plasma...please go to another center who treat you with respect and compensate you fairly.
