About 5-6 years ago, I went on Permenant Disability because of injuries I had sustained and due to chronic illness that prevented me from working in my former profession of a Nurse. I had contacted Binder and Binder (stupidly) to assist me with navigating the system. They proceeded to switch me from office to office and person to person, asking me to send and resend the same information over and over. Finally, I was supposedly going to see an administrative judge in Newark NJ and be accompanied by an attorney from their office in NY. I spoke with that person a day or two before that hearing and she informed me that their "case" was predicated on my being reviewed for something I wasn't entitled to, more money, a date change, or something. Whatever it was it made no sense to see the judge or continue with their services so I told them then that I was not continuing with their "services" or charade as it seemed to me.
They then tried to bill me for services. Their ad states, as does their contract, that if they do not provide services or a beneficial reponse that they are not entitled to collect fees. In fact, their ad states that they only collect fees from Social Security and the person who collects disability is not responsible for payment. I sent Social Security a copy of the contract, highlighted the relevant paragraph and thought that was the end of it.
Today I got a letter, supposedly from the Social Security Administration, stating that Binder and Binder had been awarded a fee, and that I supposedly owe them that fee. I do not owe these people anything since they did not do their job in the first place and since their own contract states that they are only entitled when a person has resolved their case satisfactorily. They were not involved in my primary Social Security application and they did not give me an honest and accurate protrayal of what they were doing other thatn suffling me around their offices.
Binder and Binder has committed fraud in this case and are trying to profit from it by trying to collect 750.00 from me. I have the letter here and would be happy to send a copy.
