Brought two wheels in Friday September 1st to have tires installed. The worker who installed the tires badly damaged my wheels while installing the tires. As soon as I saw the damage I informed the lady at the front desk. She apologized and the worker admitted to damaging them. They called their district manager Larry and he said he would call me Tuesday and have the wheels repaired. After nearly a week the store manager nor the district manager will return my calls. I called today and refused to let them call me back and sat on hold for an hour waitingu on the store manager to pick up the phone. The store manager answered the phone annoyed and told me that the tech informed the front desk my wheels were damaged before the install. Then called today and threatened me. Clearly a pathetic attempt to cover up their mistake. Avoid this place.
I bought some tires from Big O tire company. I was told to have 1 tie rod fixed. When I found out that I needed a inner tie rod for the vehicle I refused their service and took it to my mechanic which was cheaper than using the tire shop. I drove my truck after having the both sides of tie rods upper and lower replaced along with a alignment after the work was done. I took my vehicle on a road trip in which the rear tires wore down in 2 weeks. Which I say that the tires were cheaply made.
I got back home and took the tires to the store in Cortez in which the manager told me that he refuses to honor the warranty since I did not have the work done in the tire shop. The manager thinks that I did not have the stuff fixed but refused to have it checked to see if I did have the items fixed because I refuse to pay the price that they wanted to charge to have them done. Pulling a heavy trailer needs tires that are not soft, which I found out prior to this purchase.
I had a new set of tires installed at Big O. They added an Optional Tire Protection Plan for $54.00 without asking me if I wanted to or telling me anything about it.
It sounds like this may be a fairly common practice in order to get extra money from customers. They didn't give any paperwork on how to use the Tire Protection Plan, or even what it was, just quietly charged for it.
From what I understand, the plan is so that you can get a discount on road-side service if something happens to your tire...however they don't give the customer any info on the plan or how to use it. Also it doesn't look like the TP covers much, and AAA already gives protection and roadside service.
Big O should be more honest if they want to upsell the plan. Stop charging people for extra things without telling them or asking permission.
I'm concerned about how many women or elderly people they may be charging for a Tire Protection Plan and not letting them know it's an optional service...and also not letting them know how to use the service.
My mother is 90 years old and had some brake issues on her car. She went to this store and before we knew it, she was charged $1900 for a brake job. Her whole car is not worth that much! It drained every last dime she had in her account.
After researching the details, the parts could have been purchased for $350 RETAIL. Other bids on the same job were half that price. We have no idea if the whole job even needed to be done. They saw an old lady and took her to the cleaners.
