This was the anniversary of my father's death and I took a road trip. Motel placed me on the ground floor near their bar and grill. After it closed for the night, a large group of rowdy drunks gathered in the lot. Two hours later I still couldn't sleep due to the noise. Went to front desk.
The guy goes out and tells them to disperse then tells me that he knew the people involved and that one was an employee. He said he'd call the police. An hour goes by and finally 2 police SUV's arrived and another hour or so passed with them chasing "John" all over the parking lot.
Suspect was screaming loudly while being tasered. Happened just feet from my rental car and room with a large window. Went on for hours and I got no sleep. I got bitten by bed bugs. Not only did the motel fail to apologize, offer a discount, or a refund, I was treated with sarcasm and they lied repeatedly.
I contacted Priceline who contacted the motel which allegedly said they were "aware" of the incident but it "happened across the street." A marina is the only thing across the street and "John" was not a harbor seal. There is, however, a bar and grill owned by and operated on motel property.
The motel gave a different version to my credit card company: I was simply bothered by passing police cruisers. I noticed bug bites within hours of leaving and had damage to my ankle from scratching. A photo was posted on Google reviews as proof and they had it removed.
I went to www.bbb.org and complained to the Better Business Bureau. Yet another version emerged in response to my complaint. This was from God knows where as it had no name and specified itself only as "Executive Offices." Seriously.
The response was nonsensical and told me to take the issue up with my "bank" since they had initiated the chargeback. Banks don't do chargebacks and I don't use one. They were upset that I wanted a full refund it seems. A refund would've been appreciated but with the nasty owner of this particular location? I never felt it was likely.
I didn't even request it initially. A partial refund and apology would've been acceptable. But all this nonsense and extra effort to get some hospitality shouldn't be required. The purpose of a motel is to stop and rest. I stopped, and clearly got no rest. In my experience? Liars, drunkards, criminals, and theifs. Recommendation? Avoid the place at all costs.
