Laurie Mason Schroeder owns the business along with husband, Timothy. The business phone is registered in the name of Laurie Mason Schroeder. She said she is a co-owner and also works part-time as a journalist for the local newspaper, The Morning Call. They operate the business out of their house.
Laurie Mason Schroeder and Bear Building proved they cannot be trusted and proved dishonest in my case. Me and my fiancee needed to remodel our kitchen. I signed a contract and paid in full for them to remodel our kitchen. I paid in full and now they want 46% MORE over what was agreed to in original contract and like I said I already paid what was agreed to in the contract.
The paperwork said "contract" and it did not say "estimate" anywhere but they will bend and twist things to get out of their obligations. You can't trust anything she or her husband says. And a 46% increase over what was already agreed to is just a way to squeeze more money out of me and my fiancee. Also, there are problems with what the little work done in the kitchen (dishwasher not cycling right, leaky faucets and pipes under the sink, etc ) and they won't come back to fix the problems always giving some excuse and giving us the run-around.
( their cat was sick, their son was sick, they will come back when their schedule permits, etc.) It's been 6 months so for sure we're getting the run-around. Their business is not a corporation registered with the PA Division of Corporations. "Bear Building and Remodeling" is actually a legal "fictitious name" officially owned and registered with PA authorites by ANOTHER contractor in another Pennsylvania county (Lancaster County) not connected in any way to Laurie Mason Schroeder or Timothy Schoreder !!!!
So, it looks like their dishonesty also includes stealing another contractor's business name. I wonder if they report all their income to the IRS. You can't trust anything she or her husband says. So, they are not only crooks when it comes to me and my fiancee, but they are such low life that they stole another contractor's legal business name. I wonder if they are using a false name as a scheme to avoid reporting income to the IRS.
