Incredible - Daniel John Smith is nothing if not persistent. He has pheonixed various companies over the years starting with DJ Smith Construction Pty. Ltd. which was wound up for defective works and financial non-compliance, as too were: The RICC Group, 24/7 Building and Maintenance, Build 4U Brisbane and others.
Along the way Smith and his wife have both been bankrupted - Danny boy twice. They have built defective homes throughout South East Queensland have and have a trail of literally millions of dollars owing to former employees, suppliers, sub-contractors, etc. The Australian Tax Office is chasing Smith for unpaid taxes and he is currently under investigation for fraud by ASIC.
As he can no longer hold a position of company officer (nor can is intellectually impaired wife), Smith has retained the services of his long time lover Brendan Edward Haddack from Roma, Queensland to fill the positions of company director and secretary of this latest incarnation - the BC Group (Qld) Pty. Ltd. This is yet another scam by Smith to avoid detection by the QBCC who has banned him permanently from the building industry after he ripped off his once close friend and accountant James Whitelaw by building a property in Bulimba with stolen goods.
Since then Smith has defrauded Dougal Vincent, Mick Lancer and most recently David Bird a legitimate builder who was stupid enough to act as a "nominee" for Smith (i.e. Hiring his licence out on Gumtree for Smith to pay a nominal rental fee in order to circumvent the QBCC ban). Once Mr. Bird found out about Smith's prior history he pulled his licence (number: 15152626) and Smith was forced to scamper away like the vermin he is to find another compliant idiot to provide his nomination for a fee -
that idiot presented himself in the form of Jeffrey David Burch. Mr. Burch's licence number is 15016514. Mr Burch - from Warner in the Moreton Bay region of Queensland will be in for a rude shock once Smith starts doing his defective works and he is held responsible for it as was Mick Lancer, who's licence Smith used under the guise of Build 4U Brisbane - who was left with more than $250,000 worth of defective works by Smith to rectify otherwise Mr. Lancer would lose his building licence.
Dougal Vincent, who worked with Smith at Build 4U is currently pursuing Smith for fraud as too is his former accountant in partner in the Bulimba project (James Whitelaw). Everyone understands that Smith has expenses to deal with given the treatment expenses he's incurred for his grossly deformed and intellectually impaired son, however concerns about Smith's prior history as a "builder" - a term that is losely used throughout the South East Queensland region are very real.
