I was refereed to Barnett Delaney Perkins eye center through local directory. i scheduled a appointment to have my eyes checked and was told i have cataracts. i had insurance and HRA account . The eye center had me come back multiply times for what it seemed like the same eye exam over and over again. i paid my portion of each visit all totaling around $600.00 Finally they scheduled the surgery .
i had my father drive me to the surgery and would wait to drive me home. just when i was called up for the surgery i was asked to pay $3200.00. i was shocked .i told them was not aware of any charges as i have insurance and HRA. The company told me they were not sure how the HRA worked and there was additional charges that were not covered by ins. and they were not sure if the HRA covers them. it was like they wanted to sell me additional options like a car dealer.
i did not have $3200.00 with me at 7am the morning of the scheduled surgery. I has told i could apply for 6 months of free credit through there credit company . i tried but was denied. My father and i left the Dr, office .Months after i received another bill for approximately $300.00. i called and was left on hold for over a hour and then was hung up on. i tried again and was told a account rep was going to contact me . A rep contacted me and told me there was nothing she could due it was a insurance company issue and that i could just send couple payments..
I told her i did not think i am responsibly for any payments because the surgery did not happen . i told her i will check with my ins company. .about 2 months later they put me collections. I called Barnett Delaney and the billing department . the lady was impolite ,rude . and not willing to work with me at all. She basically said #$%@ you talk to the collections company. i did tell her that i dont think its proper to put people in collections for this and alot of people are off work with this covid 19 going on .My income has suffered as well . She could care less. i called the collections company and put in a depute. We will see what happens next
this is the issues surrounding my wife's eye surgery.
1. took three trips to their office to straighten out the post op pain medications.
2. day of surgery inceidents:
3. changed the arrival date twice pushing back her surgery time to 11am all along fasting and letting the stress of the surgery rise.
4. After surgery they had placed surgical tape in a crisscriss pattern across the eye they had just operated on which became nearly impossible to remove and exceptionally painful for my wife.
5. Once surgery was completed with her eye taped shut they pushed her out in the waiting room fending for ourselves to move through a waiting room and across a huge parking lot with out issue.
6. we returned a week later to have the lens removed from her eye and they immediately started to give her eye tests regardless of our insistence that there was a lens in her eye. All this just to try to raise the total billing.
7. Now they are calling wanting to have another exam. You have to be kidding after this experience.
