This has been a total nightmare for me. Was trying to better my life. Didn't have a career and was seeking to attend school to try to get a career. Went to Barclay Career School downtown on Fannin Street. I remember like it was yesterday. I was offered a loan that I asked would I have to pay back because I thinking long term, "what if I can't find a job in this field."
The recruiter assured me I would me I would not have to pay it back. Being misinformed about paying the loan back I willing signed the papers given. Well, little did I know 20 years later this loan has followed me haunting me, income taxes garnished, filed on my credit report dropping my score. The loan has passed from one collector to another.
I tried to start paying the loan because I saw it would not away. The interest is compiling an I don't know what to do. Now someone else has picked up the loan Fedloan an they keep putting it on my credit report and it is killing my credit. If I had of known 20 years later this would have turned out this way. I would have never even looked in their direction. Can anyone HELP I know I'm not the only one dealing with this nightmare.
While in the classroom a couple of nights a female student yelled out this class is bogus. I've been in other paralegal classes in other schools and these people are not teaching us the right things.
I have been trying to find this school because I am constantly struggling still trying to pay back this loan which has trippled by now, but no school can be found. In order to get a good payng job in this field I need another copy of my diploma. My word is one thing, but some people require the actual document.
Yes, I did finish the course and receive my Paralegal Diploma. I moved a couple of years later, and it was lost or stolen prior to the move. So I have been trying to get another for years.
I remember that the classes were pretty full every night. I graduated in 1992 or 1993. Can We Please Do A Class Action Suit against the District of Columbia for allowing these people to take our money, not properly prepare me for the new job and disappear from the planet. They also promised to find me a job or at least try to before I came to this school, but when I graduated and called back they kept giving me a run around. Even though I attended school every night, I was unprepared to go into the job market with the Diploma that I received. Is it true they were teaching a non-supportive curriculum?
What about a class action suit against the DC Government for permitting them to practice or cancellation of this loan? Thank you.
I did not complete a course with this school but was charged. I have suffered years because I have no way of proving that they took funds that were of no benefit to me. I have tried to avoide this situation by ignoring it. I have cried many nights just thinking about what happened to me. I am currently in default for a loan I never applied for. I don't understrand how this could happen. How is it possible to process documents and receive funds for a person without their knowledge. This have really drove me to believe the financial system (student loan) do not care and do not investigate these types of crimes. I have reported my issue and still have not been heard. I csan not go to school because of this loan hanging over my head. Please if anyone can help me get this situation removed I would be most grateful. My life have been at a complete stgandstill because of this loan that Barclar Careers took out in hmy name. I fear for amyone that try to support local independent schools. If this type of thing can happen to me it can happen to anyone. I want so badly to further my education but have not been able to do so because of this loan. Please someone tell me what to do . My taxes are effected by this issue. I am afaid to file my tgaxes because they will take my money and give it to this school. Please I am begging someone please help me.
Upon entering this school 11/06/1989 i was told since i'm on welfare just give them that information and that i will not have to pay back this loan. I did not have a job then, just had a son. Every time you went to class none of the computers worked and the staff was not there. I am paying on this loan to this day in this loan states that i was given child care which is a lie, transportation which is a lie. This school was a big ripoff
