AWR Building Industries Reviews
In July of 2017, one of the project managers from AW Rostamani (name Emmanuel Espesito) googled and found my company and got in touch with me saying they had an urgent job (application of decorative glass stickers on glasses) and they would like to get it done ASAP. I knew AWR was a big company and I wanted to impress them.
I told the project manager to issue an LPO or an advance payment so I can start the work. He got back to me saying that this was very urgent and if we do not complete this job in the next three to four days, they will get hugely fined by their client (he said the fine would be AED 25,000/day). He also said that there is a big process to register as a vendor with their company and it will take time to register and release the LPO or the advance payment. Wanting to make an impression and wanting to be on such a big company's good side, inspite of not receiving any official papers or an advance payment, I decided to take this job. I took it and completed it in the stipulated time.
All was well for AWR and when I started to follow up for the payment, the manager starting giving one excuse after another. Days became weeks and weeks became months. My company got frustrated with this delay and they fined me by withholding my one month salary of AED 13,500 hoping that I would get serious about this payment. I pressured the manager after this incident and he dragged this on for months and all of a sudden his phone was turned off and I could not reach him at all. When I called the company's land line, they told me that the manager had quit the company.
Frustrated, I got an appointment (in April 2018) with the Operations Manager of the company Mr. Tanzeem Talat who is supposedly the manager of this project manager Emmanuel. In spite of my pleadings, he said he will not release the payment because there is no record of this work. I am totally devastated as I feel that I have been ripped off and cheated by such a reputed and big company AW Rostamani. Though I am not posititive that me filing this report will help my case, I can only hope it will and more than anything, I hope this can be a lesson for small companies like mine as they deal with a giant like AW Rostamani Building Contracting in the future.
