Don't use this as a reward for your customers. Awards2go/Gifts2Go charges a maintenance fee to every card every month unless the balance is used up immediately. This will turn a good-will gesture from your company into a disappointed or angry customer. If you want bad reviews based on someone else's practices then go for it, but it's been an absolute waste of our money and relationship with valued customers!
We used this for several months as a thank you for current customers who referred a new customer. As time passed we ended up with one frustrated customer after another calling about their thank you debit card balance being eaten up by a month maintenance fee. Sure we knew about it, but it's not written anywhere on the card. Our best customers aren't the kind of people who go out and spend money just to spend it, so most of them stuck these "Debit Cards" in a drawer until they had a use for them.
We stopped used this company two years ago, but we still get calls from customers even now asking why Awards2Go/Gifts2Go would hide this information by not placing it directly on the card. I couldn't agree more. It is their product and therefore their responsibility. Only after this fiasco did we find out that a large portion of their income is base on knowing recipients of these cards don't realize their cash is being whittled away. Had we been armed with this information we wouldn't have risked the good-will of our valued customers, and we would have gone with the alternative we use now.
