Avis Rental Salt Lake City I rented a car at the airport, everything was fine until I returned it, first the original contract was cancelled because they screwed up, i get home and looked at the paperwork and i was charged for the car i didn't even rent plus a charge that was put on my credit card the day i rented, i called and got the rental amount corrected to coordinate with the price of the rental on 1 credit card.
The charge that was on another credit card was still there, I called and i was assured i would receive a credit..wrong, got charged a different amount. 3 weeks later i have not received credit for what they owe me. I am a one and done customer with them. I went thru Costco ..hopefully they drop them. Bottom line..don't rent a car thru Avis at the Salt Lake airport. Still no credit received
We rented a car in Fort Lauderdale on July 13, 2020, returned the card in New Orleans on July 17, 2020
at the counter to Brian.
All was fine until December 14th received a letter dated December 4, 2020, that on the 15th our cc that we rented the car with would be charged for damage of a mirror at the cost of $409.32.
The letter said "Please be advised that the expense listed above will be applied to your debit or credit card that you presented at the time of rental approximately one week after the mailing date of this letter.
By the time we received the letter, they had already hit our account to get the money.
I attempted to call and get to the bottom of this. I started phoning at 9 am and by 12 noon.
by that time I had exhausted my attempts to clear this up. I called the number on the letter sent by someone named Nora Henry, her title was listed under her name on the letter as "Emergency Road Service Specialist"
One Customer Service Clerk in the Roadside assistance Dept giggled when I asked to speak to Nora Henry.
When she laughed I asked if there really was a Nora Henry, she laughed. And directed me back to one of the numbers I had already called.
I had dialed 888.409.9362, 866.446.8376, 800.352.7900, 800.962.1434, spoke to people 6 people in different departments. I was transferred and directed and re-directed back to the beginning.
After being on the phone for 3 hours. I needed a break, but I called on last time to a CSR "Jesus." he told me that the notes indicated that as a courtesy they were willing to take some money off the bill. I replied with I hadn't left the car with a broken mirror and did not want a discount, I want it removed. I was then told there was nothing he could do. That's it. End of the phone conversation.
Sadly we didn't take a photo of the car when we returned it. I would suggest you protect yourself by taking date stamped photos and putting them with your rental.
It seems that I am not the only one reporting a very negative experience with AVIS. I have rented vehicles from AVIS at different worldwide locations. I was never treated with such disrispect as in the US. "Agent Jones" from the loss prevention department phone number +1 (267) 978-2583 is awful at customer service. I travel for my company across the globe and sometimes need a vehicle for over 30 days. I never had problems with this in any other country and it's one of the main reasons why my company still uses AVIS from my travels.
Then after years of renting from AVIS, I was contacted by Agent Jones threatening to report my vehicle stolen and an issue arrest warrant. Then he contacted my mother who lives in a diferent state and sent her the same information. She was very worried and contacted me imediately. I called Agent Jones directly, and when he realized that they had made a mistake instead of correcting the situation they simply stoped answering the phone and sent me a text message telling me to "go get some rest". My experience with AVIS loss prevention department in the US has been awful and they treat customers with disrispect, umprofessionalism, intimidation, harrasment, and dishonesty.
Month ago I rented a car from this operation because they offer a deal of 3 days $90. I signed a contract after the staff briefly explain the clause. I barely remember those clauses but one thing for sure I hadn't hear anything about insurance charges.
Amounts you will pay always sensitive to most consumers, isn't it? besides my credit card has insurance coverage in the event I rent a car. They charged me $450.85 for 6day of rental. I called, each time take an hour to reach a person to talk.
My rental receipt shows time and killometres: $194.40
Environ fee 0.15/DY $0.9
energy recovery fee 0.98/DY $5.88
Eh Lic fee $8.82
Late fee $15.00
optional Service total taxable $174.00
Actually I used 5days, return late, they charged full day rate what that late fee mean? Optional service fee they explained that's insurance, what's the hell?!!!
It was 9am. I had just seen two lions in Kruger National Park when my tire blew out. The first rule of the park is NEVER leave your car. This is especially true when lions are near unless you want to be their next meal. No exageration. Someone driving by noticed my tire and kindly offered to return to the nearby restcamp and call Avis. "Great" I thought, since I had purchased roadside assistance.
9:30am, fellow tourist returns, says Avis can't be hear until 9am - tomorrow. Are you kidding me??? The kind person also tried to find a park personal to come fix my tire but no one was around. So I had no choice to leave my car and change the tire. I was sweating bullets the whole time. Scariest moments of my life. FInally got it fixed and drove to restcamp Satara where I called Avis. This was around 11am. Again, they claimed they couldn't come until the next day as the wouldn't make it out of the park in time.
(Gates close at 6) Had they left at 9am when the first call came, they would've had plenty of time. Even at 11am, they would've made it out. They say they'll return my call with details. So even though I have paid accomodations up north, I have to book a room at Satara camp - at twice my budget since I'm booking so late - (Avis couldn't have put up one of their employees who brought me the spare?) Then someone points out that ALL of my tires are bald.
Another passerby notices this as well and mentions this is Avis's practice. I try to call Avis and tell them this, as I'd prefer not to have another flat. I get passed around, put on indefinitely hold, hung up on, redial, same thing. Told to call someone else, again put on hold, have to have my boyfriend call from the US. THis goes on from 11:30 to roughly 4pm. Finally, someone tells me they are bringing another car, the exact model, in the morning. So I lose one day of my trip to stress and phone calls.
Next day, guy comes with car (earlier than expected, I'm getting coffee as I have no food but when I contact Avis when back home they fault me for this) I have to fill out a bunch of paperwork, inspect a new car which isn't identical to the model I had. I fact, the seats are so low, I have to pile a bunch of clothes a pillow on it to see over the window.) And guess what. More bald tires. I mention this to the Avis rep and he laughs. "Yeah, thats how they come to us."
Then he acuses me of driving on gravel roads which I haven't done. I don't get on the road until 10:30. If you've been to Kruger, you know the best sightings are early in the morning. Typically, I'm off taking photos at 5am so I've lost 5 hours. I drive to my next accommodation up North and am so terrified of getting another flat on these tires. I don't drive for three days. When I do drive again, I'm constantly asking people if my tires are low and stopping by service stations to have my tires checked.
The first service station tells me my tires are WAY over inflated, bald and dangerous. Finally, get the courage to venture out again. Two days later, another flat. From a thorn. So have to wait to have it changed (FOrtunately, near a service station) Then have to spend my entire day driving to Avis for a spare. Again, lectures as if it's my fault. "Don't drive on thorns." There are billions of thorns in Kruger from the trees. All in all, I only drove 7 out of 13 days and had two flats. Although I sent a detailed letter to Avis SA, they wrote back with falsified information and denied any wrongdoing. I have since brought photos of my tires to established tire companies in the US and they were horrified.
They are a rip off. they over charged me by 1,148+ dollars (for 4 days)
rude and continued to charge me as I write this. They are extremely rude. I could of rented a car from Avis/Budget for a month for 500.00+ dollars. Making a reservation, they did not include insurance. When I went to pick up the car at the Citadel Mall, Charleston SC. The young guy there was rude! plus when I asked, " I have insurance on this, right"? He said, "No, you don't get insurance".... I read the contract after the emergency trip I had to take and the contract said that I declined any kind of insurance. I was not verbally given that option.
I'm very upset trying to get help from these guys I'm talking to as I write here. Next, the gas, I did not fill it, but it was not full when I got the car. It was 3/4 of fuel in the car. I didn't complain, I had to drive to be on time.
Plus now they are charging me $9.99 for gas per gallon. They are Gouging customers.
He won't budge on this price, he still wants:
$903.15 I talked and asked again pleading and he dropped it
down to $809.00 (Robert) Plus remember its only $500.00 plus to rent an Avis/Budget car per month! I notice that all women have complained on this site. Which leads me to believe that the good ratings are by Budget employees. Everyone I have spoken to since I did book with Budget told me they are the worst rip off. Be careful. I'm going to now call Loss Prevention, another number this man, Robert just give me. I'm miserable, because I planned on buying a Budget for sale car. This is not good. You need an attorney to sign a lease agreement at Budget. They are unfair. Horrible, rude, ripoff company. Beware!
The original charge to rent was $183.94 was what I was suppose to get charged.
The car we rented had a flat tire the very first night. Took us several hours the next morning to have tire changed & then we had to drive to nearest airport to exchange cars since it is not safe to drive a car with a spare that is a donut. We lost a whole morning of our Yellowstone vacation.
A month after getting home we get a letter from Avis stating we owed $87.00 for calling Avis roadside assistance out to change flat. Avis refused to remove the charge. At no time was it ever mentioned that calling roadside assistance could end up with a charge. We were lucky we didn't have flat out in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night since that is when we were driving. Luckily we made it to hotel. For all we know the tire was going flat when we picked car up, since there was a nail in the tire & it was a slow leak. The bill I signed for at end of rental mentioned no extra charge. They wait a month them slam you.
I am writing to you further to my stressful and unsatisfied experience with Avis rental company at Duesseldorf Airport in Germany. Once you read my bad experience, am sure you will stay away from Avis as they give you very bad service and ripp you off with an overcharge claiming that its your fault.
To give you a synopsis of my experience:
Checked into avis counter on Thursday 18 may around 22.00 hrs. Very helpful and pleasant experience
Picked up car on parkplatz +4, bad experience. I went to pick up the car from carpark 607 as far as i remember; car was not clean and had loads of stains and dust inside. After travelling 18 hours in a plane one expects more than this. When walked around the car, I did not notice any damages other than a dent and a spot above the rear right side just above the weel.
I did not look at the tires as one presumes these to be in order. I went back to report this to the gentleman inside (Dalton or Douglas, i cant remember his name) he was busy with other stuff and speaking to other staff whilst trying to assist me (not good !). He briefly looked at the rental sheet, stamped and signed this and gave this back to me.
I drove around around 800 kms in 3 days with the car and returned the car in exact shape as picked up. NO accidents , nor any incidents did occur. I am 44 years and have been driving and owning luxury cars for my entire lifetime and never ever had anything occur to me nor my cars.I have a clean record !
Needless to say than if one reverts the car in a rush on Sunday morning 21st May 2017 around 6am in the morning one can be in a rush and is straight to the point.
The gentleman who came out running out of his office when he saw me was rude, unfriendly and the only thing he asked was that if there is petrol in the car and where are the papers. I have asked him about my invoice and told him that i was in a rush. He said that he would send the invoice later and that all was ok as he looked at the car as well.
Once landed in my destination and being confronted with first a customer satisfaction survery and thereafter receiving an invoice with the rental with an overcharge of more than 1000 Euro, claiming for the damages done to the car. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE.
Should the person have said that there were damages to the car once returned I would have detest as well. The trick they are using here is to say that all is ok and send you afterwards the overcharge and claims that you have caused damages. I will pursue this further untill court if I have to as this is completely out of order and unacceptable.
I do hope with the help of your website we can reach to the people to make sure never to rent again from this Avis company.
In the meantime I am in the process of taking legal action
Please rest assured that a gentleman of my exposure understands and knows what is customer service and how one should be treated.
Tried reserving a car online for the weekend of April 22 , but didn't realize they didn't accept debit cards. After calling to cancel my reservation, I checked my statement only to find out they had charged me twice even though the reservation never went through. A week and a half later still no refund. Stay away from Avis. They will scam you out of money.
On collecting the car at Atlanta airport, which was all prepaid, I was asked the usual "do you want to upgrade" which I refused then he said I see you've taken out the full insurance let me run through that so you know what you've got, at the end of that I was then asked to initial to say I understood and sign at the bottom.
I then noticed there was a $120 charge on my card, when I asked what is was I was told "don't worry it's only a deposit which will be refunded when the car is returned"
I made the mistake of thinking Avis was a reputable company and signed.
On return home I see the $120 has been charged and not refunded so I contact customer services fully expecting them to apologise and refund this amount. How wrong was I, they refuse to accept anything on the grounds they have my signature it doesn't matter how they get that signature but they've got it so tough.
I try to explain again that I was told this money was only a deposit and would be refunded, so the only explanation was the member of staff involved just lied and defrauded me. They replied as there was a misunderstandind they would discount the amount by 50%. Just to make it clear there was no misunderstanding I'm very clear on what happened, I was lied to and cheated.
I couldn't believe it, it's not the money it's the fact senior people in the company obviously know what their staff are doing and condone, maybe even encourage, this action which is basically theft.
I thought it might have just been a one off incident but now having read many reviews (wish I had read them before making the booking) I am only one of many who has been ripped off in various ways.
Do not use Avis, if you have to, do not sign anything! beware!!!
I rented cars from AVIS once in December and three times in January while my car was in the shop. The agreed rate between AVIS and the auto shop was $30/day. I had the car for 1 day each time. I got charged $30 for the December rental. The January rentals came to $60, $565, and $135. They claimed I had the car a week and returned it 250 miles away. I was supposedly returning a car 250 miles away while I was at work. And they charged me $30 for tolls in that city. I called and explained this didn’t happen. They told me they would refund the money within 48 hours. They did not. I called at least 4 times and each time I was told they would refund the money within 48 hours. They finally refunded $290 of the $700 in overcharges. They have been unable to produce paperwork showing where I was the one renting the car for those dates. The auto shop has told me they have received several similar complaints, (AVIS stealing money) and are changing rental agencies.
I reserved a luxury car from Avis to be picked up upon my arrival in Omaha. I prepaid for this luxury car-a Lincoln or equivalent was promised. When I arrived they had no luxury car-only a Dodge.
They refuse to refund my money and called me a no show to my credit card company. They did not fulfill their part of the agreement. I was there on time to pick up a luxury car as promised.
Do not bother with Avis. They still have my money and they didn't have a car as promised. I had to fill out a long report with my Bank of America to no avail.
Be cautious about prepaid rentals. Cancellation policys are not communicated until your reservation is completed and will cost you if not careful.
I recently found a lesser rate for car rentals (from a competitor) and went to cancel my reservation (a portion of which was prepaid). In speaking with an agent, I was informed that the cost of the prepaid rental would be refunded MINUS $50 fee. The agent could not explain what the fee covered. I asked if there was any leniency, as my reservation is more than 30 days away and it's highly unlikely that I'm costing the company money by cancelling 30 days out. Their answer came back in the negative.
I will be seeking restituion in efforts of making sure no one else is scammed the way I have been.
The rental was OK but the associate at the counter misrepresented the "Gas Option" I was told that it would not cost me any more or less if I took this option. This is completely false. If you take the gas option, you basically pay for the entire tank of gas, no matter how much you use ($51.00 in my case), I didn't use near that much gas, so if I would have not taken the Gas Option and filled myself, it would have cost me maybe $20.00. Ripped off!!!
I rented a mini van at Hartsfield Jackson Airport from Avis, I am a preferred member, everything was fine with the rental until 10 days later I received a letter indicating they would be charging me 75.00 for a cleaning fee, I called the number on the letter and let the rep Kathy know the car was used to transport 4 adults and asked what the charge was for she let me know the charge was for Pet Hair, really we just got off of a plane and stayed in a Hotel near Emory University we did not have any pets on the plane, Kathy was rude and indicated all she could do was uphold the charges and gave me the number to the airport location, I called the airport location and was directed to the national number, I spoke with another agent and went thru the entire story again only to be told all she could do was uphold the charges, and to call the airport location, so I called them 6 times and I was directed to the national number, so I called and hit 0 once someone answer I was transferred 3 times and landed in Bill's voice mail, I left a message and have yet to heard anything, I will be going to better business bureau next. How can a company get away with this I had heard they are doing this alot in Atlanta but never believed it well I guess I should have. DO NOT RENT FROM AVIS THEY ARE RIPPING PEOPLE OFF WITH NO PROOF ABSOLUTELY MAKES ME SICK.
I booked an AVIS vehicle for my trip to Panama City on the AA.com website. During the booking process I was offered an insurance policy from ALLIANZ. I paid for this policy and went on my merry way to Panama. On my arrival at the AVIS counter in Tocumen Airport, the agent at the AVIS counter totally ignored the insurance policy that I showed from ALLIANZ and insisted that no car rental firms in Panama accept insurance Policies from Allianz. For me to get a car, I had to pay 31USD per day and a 300 USD deposit. So here I am thinking that all I had to do was pick up my car and pay the 90USD for the week, I ended up having to put out over 700USD extra. The 300USD deposit is supposed to be refundable.
Todate I am still waiting for it. The 31USD per day was totally unexpected and I am trying now to alert all travelers that they should be careful when booking AVIS from a third party website. I called Allianz and they refunded me my money and told me that it was unethical for AVIS to deny coverage because they are a globally accepted company. Anyway, I got caught in this deceptive trade practice so I am warning all travelers to please find out if the insurance they bought in the US is valid or be prepared for huge rates for insurance on arrival in Panama,
I sent a complaint to AVIS and no one had the courtesy to respond. I also copied AA.com customer service and have not gotten a response. So looks like this is a learning experience. Will try another car company when next I visit but I am sure to call before to make sure I don't get trapped into this type of mess.
I rented a car on 11/7/15 - returned it on 11/8/15. When I returned it the company had an employee turn the vehicle on (running) to check the fuel levels. I had filled the vehicle up 15 minutes prior to returning it. As the employee had checked the fuel level, I saw no need to keep the receipt.
I checked my credit card statement today and found that Avis had charged me 216 dollars in addition to the 60 that I was charged by PriceLine.com. FOR A ONE DAY RENTAL!
I called the customer service and she at first told me that I agreed to all charges. I told her it shold have been approximately 100 if that. After nearly 20 minutes on the phone, it was discovered that Avis had charged me for returning the vehicle with an empty tank of gas.
I went to the gas station for the receipt and was told by the gas station that this happens everyday, multiple times a day - people needing duplicate receipts due to Avis and many others charging for empty tanks.
Now I am being told that my money will be returned but it will take 1-2 weeks. That is crap! They have already had my money for ten days. I should have not worried about saving the 15 dollars and just gone with Enterprise (who I normally rent from) because they do not scam people for money.
On or about Sept 21, 2015, an "econo size" car was rented from Avis at their John Wayne Airport location in Santa Ana, CA. The rental period was for ONE WEEK. The car was returned as promised, several hours before it was due to be returned, at the Avis office which the car was rented from, John Wayne Airport, in Santa Ana, CA
About 10 days after the car was returned, I received a letter from Avis Corporate threatening to report the car as stolen if I didn't voluntarily return the vehicle within 24 hours!! This was 10 days AFTER I had already returned the car. Avis was kind enough to provide a phone number to their "Loss Prevention" department. I immediately called that number and told them I was in receipt of a letter pertaining to a car that was already returned. I provided the information of where it was returned, the date, time and other specifics. The loss prevention agent lady with whom I spoke "tracked" the vehicle however they track it in their own system and came back on the phone to tell me "this is very strange and embarassing, and I have to apologize to you for our mistake. Our records indicate the car is presently located at our John Wayne Airport office and is in inventory. I will immediately send the local branch office an email to straighten out this matter and you no longer have to worry about it".
I was stupid enough to take her word for it and didn't bother to collect any additional information after she told me "you don't have to worry about anything on this matter, I will make sure it's taken care of since we have the car". I DEPENDED ON THE FACT THAT I WAS TOLD THE CALL WAS BEING RECORDED, AND STILL HOPE THAT THERE IS A PAPER AND VOICE TRAIL OF THE FACT THAT I WAS TOLD THEY HAD THE CAR AS EARLY AS SEPT 29TH, 2015.
But was that the end of it? ABSOLUTELY NOT. On or about October 2nd, I get a call from a UC San Diego detective. The Detective inquired about a car I recently rented from Avis, which I confirmed. The Detective then went on to tell me that the car was involved in "an incdent on campus", without divulging additional details to me. I immediately told the detective "I recently was on the phone with Avis loss prevention dealing with this exact same issue". I described the letter I received followed by the call placed into loss prevention and the events that followed regarding their tracking of the vehicle and the email that was allegedly sent to the local branch from corporate loss prevention to tell the local office "leave this guy alone, he returned your car and it's in the lot!". The Detective thanked me for my time and hung up and I didn't hear anything again on the matter.
Now on November 16th, 2015, I'm being told that the car was involved in a minor hit and run sometime between October 2nd and October 22nd. The latter date being the date that Avis apparently "found their own car"!!!!
On November 16, 2015, I got a call back from the same Detective to give me a "heads up" that
Avis actually lost the car until October 22nd and found it in the city of La Jolla, Ca (San Diego). I immediately came to the conclusion that Avis blew it on this one, someone probably either stole the car from their John Wayne facility, rented it from the John Wayne office or for whatever reason, drove off with this particular car WITHOUT reporting it (they don't check you as you drive off the lot like they do at most airport rental agencies where there's a security guy that checks your paperwork before allowing you off the lot. At John Wayne Airport, if there are keys in the car, you can get in and drive away and no one will be the wiser) and was involved in something that was going to cost Avis money and now Avis was frantically looking for a scapegoat. And that scapegoat was going to be the "last person on record as having rented the car" regardless of the fact that Loss Prevention confirmed 10 days after the car was returned that the car was in fact located on the Avis lot in Santa Ana, CA, and regardless of that evidence, the alleged hit & run the Detective told me about occurred well after the car was returned and confirmed on their lot in Santa Ana, CA.
How on earth was Avis going to make the mental leap of trying to blame an alleged hit & run whose only witness was a photo of the license plate of THEIR CAR with no indication of who was driving, nor any indication of who the other party involved in this hit & run was, and why they were tyring to pass blame onto a customer that had returned the car somwhere between 10 days and 1 month before the hit & run took place? I don't know the exact date and nature of the hit & run as the Detective did not disclose this information to me other than to say no other people were injured nor involved. How could there be a hit and run with no people involved? This was getting more bizarre. I tried to contact Avis immediatly to clear the matter up and threaten to sue them for harassment, false accusation, libel and per the definition of Slander, SLANDER! But the phone number Avis gave the Detective, who then gave to me, WAS A NON WORKING NUMBER FOR AVIS: 973-496-3799
Sensing I was a little distraught, the Detective tried to calm me by saying "From what I understand, Avis hasn't made up their mind on whether they're going to hold you OR YOUR FATHER accountable for the hit and run and any damages they are ultimatley going to have to pay". At this point, I was appaled, although I wasn't going to take out my frustrations on the Detective, he seemed to actualy be helping me and believed my story. I coudln't lie about a phantom email and if I did, I would have to be a moron to claim that Loss Prevention sent an email to the local office saying the car is on your lot so stop bothering this customer if there was no email. I would be incriminating myself. Anyway, I was angry about the fact that the Detective mentioned my father! What my father had to do with anything was beyond my comprehension. I just wanted to get to the bottom of the matter.
I told the Detective that if Avis was honest, they would have a record of the email so I had nothing to worry about and was eager to get on with pursuing Avis regarding the matter and letting the Detective get on with more important things other than Corporate incompetency and dishonesty. I actually sensed the Detective was familiar with these types of matters and this wasn't the first time he was dealing with something like this.
There is no indication of what type of hit and run the car was involved in, what day, what time, or where other than "on the UCSD campus" which is the largest UC in California. If there were no "witnesses" other than someone that took a picture of the license plate, coupled with the fact that there were no individuals hurt or injuried because no one was in either car (allegedly from what the Detective said), then it's incomprehensible how Avis could attempt to make such a leap and accusation. What seeme to be happening was Avis had one of their cars either lost, stolen, rented out and undocumented or someone just took it right off their Santa Ana lot for a 1 month joy ride, had their fun, then according to the Detective, "Avis found the car on Oct. 22nd". Whatever that was supposed to mean, I assumed whoever took the car off the Santa Ana Lot either abandoned the car somewhere or returned it to another Avis office in La Jolla since I checked online and there is a "Budget" office in La Jolla, and they're the same company. Either that or Avis is trying to create a believable scenario to pass blame so they don't have to pay the repair costs. What other conclusion can be drawn from this bizarre fairy tale?
If they are honest and have records of the email that was sent by loss prevention, it immediately proves their incompetence. If they wish to pass blame to someone that has nothing to do with it and cover up their own incompetence or some local manager is trying to save his/her job by deleting evidence, then we have a corporation engaged in fraud, false accusation, harassment, slander, and thus liable for potential damages on top of any amount of money they would have to pay to fix the car(s). The amount of money they are liable to be sued for as a result of their fantastically illogical fairy tale is going to be exponentially more than what I imagine could be the most they would have to pay for a "hit and run" that didn't involve any passengers, drivers, injuries, etc... and the only record is a smartphone photo of their own car's license plate taken somewhere between 2 weeks and 1 month AFTER Loss Prevention confirmed the car was on the lot in Santa Ana,
Santa Ana, CA is about 80 Miles NORTH of La Jolla, CA, where the car supposedly "turned up" sometime between October 2nd and October 22nd, although probably closer to the 22nd because I believe I had spoken to the Detective the first time around the 2nd.
It does seem the only way this company can remain profitable is to hit their customers with masssive charges that can't be justified, and then threten them with costly litigation that forces the customer to decide which would be cheaper, biting the bullet and paying for costs they're not responsible for, or paying for an attorney to deal with the matter. AVOID AVIS OR BUDGET AT ANY AND ALL COSTS!!!!
I rented a car in the Springfield Ilinoise airport. I travel for a living so it's crazy this happened to me! While renting my car the agent never discussed extras like they always do! She was very professional and I was actually pleasantly surprised to not be getting the hard sell for all the extras! The last thing she said to me before I signed was...you accept total responsibility for insurance etc. I did think when I got in my car how we didn't have the usual pushy sales pitch. Opened up my envelope to read over my contract . Surprise my envelope was empty. Again I should have gone back in that instant! Clearly I was wrong to not read the fine print and just initial several places! She was definitely professional! A professional at collecting her commission based income! I had $250 in extras!!! I called the location and filed a report with the National Budget office. Of course I got no Where! I paid double for my rental! Warning to anyone renting a car! The agents make commission on selling the insurance and extras! Be careful sadly a few are making a career out of ripping you off!
I rented a car from Avis renatl Car for 3 days. When I created my online profile I declined the supplemental insurances. When I reviewed my reciept 3 days later, I noticed that I was charged for the insuranced that I declined. I contacted Avis several times to speak to a supervisor to resolve this issue, and each time I called the CSRs took my phone number stating that a supervisor would call me. Today, I called a was able to speak with someone(who was not a supervisor) regarding my dispute of charges, and I was told again that a supervisor would call me. Instead of a phone call, I get a email from Avia stating that they would not be refunding the over $300 in insurance charges. I rbegan renting cars from this company for business purposes, but not anymore! I am one peson, not a big company, so I know that they don't care about loosing my business. This company and the people who work for them have no morals and they don't care about trying to resolve issues with their customers. I will not rent from this company again!
Avis Rent A Car System, LLC. Reviews
Stay away from Avis Rental Cars.
