AVENUE REPEATED BILLING SCAM: AM I THE ONLY ONE? I bought some jeans on an avenue credit card more than 6 months ago. Received a bill (first bill received) months later with late charges on it. I always pay off my cards the same month, so was very alarmed. (Nevermind the other part of this story, which was that I believed I had paid for the jeans in the store and that what they gave me was a discount card: I don't like to open multiple credit cards and stick with the ones I've had for years.) But okay. I want to take care of this. Called, apologized for somehow missing the bill, paid it off in full, and asked them to close the account, since I didn't want any more surprises. Was assured this was done.

The next month, I get a bill for a third of the original bill, plus more fees. I call, say hey, I paid this in full and you said you closed the account. Twenty minutes on the phone, they say yes, we do see that, we're sorry, it's fixed now. The next month, I get another bill, against smaller, but with more late charges. I call again, go through whole dance again, and confirm that I paid IN FULL, the card is CLOSED and there will be no more bills. Each time, they're very polite, say they can see that, have me hold while they clarify it's fixed, apoligize, and tell me it is. All very polite on both sides. Next month: another bill! The last time I say, look, this is really getting annoying, and I'm not going to buy that it's an error next time, as opposed to a scam, and I will be posting on Facebook, calling the Better Business Bureau, etc.Of course!, They say! We're so sorry, they say! Totally paid off and closed!

I just got another bill. It says I owe $1.01.

Stay classy, Avenue. How ridiculous is this. Except that...it's probably not just me, is it? Probably a lot of people are paying these things without noticing how many times they're already paid them. Well guess what? It just became my mission to insure that more people notice. I am extremly upset with Avenue's customer service. To begin with, this was my first time online shopping with them. Im going on a cruise and needed a few things. So I ordered and got my order and to my disappointment some things did not fit. So i sent those back. I received email notification about a week later that the return had processed but noticed that two of the items I sent back were not refunded. So I called customer service and was told that I was not refunded because those two items were outlet items and those can not be refunded. I could not believe it! I have never heard of such a thing.

When I ordered there is nothing on the item description page stating that item can not be refunded. THERE SHOULD BE SOMETHING ON THAT ITEM PAGE SAYING THAT SO PEOPLE WILL SEE THAT WHEN THEY ADD THE ITEM TO THE CART. If that was stated there on the item description page, I wouldnt have ordered knowing that refunds would not be give if returned. The only place you will see that stated is under the return policy on the website under help section. I have ordered from many clothing places on the internet and never had a issue returning clearance, outlet or final sale items. So I had no reason to think they wouldnt take my return.

Regardless I was told by the agent that they would see if I could get a one time credit by letting the higher managment know the situation. I said ok, and they told me they would contact me. After about a week finally I got a email saying they would not refund me. If I would pay them another $8 and they would ship the useless clothes back to me if I wanted them. Which I did not, because what am I going to do with clothes that do not fit. Avenue is dirty! I will never shop with them again. It was my first and last time. Their website should have had on each outlet item page that those items can not be returned. Instead that is hidden under the return policy which nobody will think of looking at when ordering. Thanks a lot for a great first time shopping experience with your company Avenue! I will not be back nor recommend you to anyone I know!
