Upon enrollment to their Auto Detailing program, I was told that there were several graduates of the program that were now professionals in the field. (Not true whatsoever) They also made mention of a particular female instructor who graduated from their course (Auto Detailing) who now ownes and runs her own successful detailing shop and was certified to teach the Detailing program, I was now enrolled in. ( Also not true ) Once the course began, I spent two days watching Youtube videos from the instructor's cell phone and I along with my classmates was given a list of equipment that would be needed to preform detailing in the field. Keep in mind that we were only given 6 days (2 days per weekend) to learn all that we needed to learn in order to be professional Detailers, two of which were spent watching Youtube videos from an iphone followed by two days of "shop work". The instructor was knowledgeable and very nice but when we were given time in the actual shop they only had a few working polishing machines, no power washers, no steam cleaning equipment and one vacuum. 3 of us had to bring in our own equipment to use. Needless to say most of the class was standing around with nothing to do but watch for the majority of the day. Many of us asked why they didn't have the necessary equipment to facilitate the class, yet all we could get as an explanation was a series of lame excuses. To the instructor's credit, she could only teach with the equipment that was afforded her by whomever makes those decisions at the Automotive Training Centre, however, I understood at that very moment that we had been ripped off. How can they justify a $1,500 tuition for 6 days of not having the proper means to teach us what they advertise teaching? All together we spent a total of 8 hours actually using detailing equipment and that was only because our instrcutor was nice enough to organize a road trip of sort to the shop that she is employed by ( not OWN as i was told when i enrolled). She allowed us to see what a functioning detailing shop resembles and afford us some much needed time utilizing the shops equipment.
If these are the standards of the Automotive Training Centre's courses then you are much better off saving your time, money and energy. I have contacted my lawyer to look into this "school's" practices and see if there's something that can bebdone from a legal stand point. I feel victimized, ripped off and taken advantage of. I was in a class of 8 students @ $1,500 per student that's $12,000 so where's the detailing equipment and how is this justifiable? The Automotive Training Centre ought to be investigated and sued for taking advantage of people, false advertising and outright robbery!
