Auto Alley Reviews

  • Oct 2, 2018

I would like a refund on the 2003 Subaru Outback I purchased from Auto Alley. I purchased the 2003 Subaru Outback on July 5th 2018 on a Thursday afternoon. I entered Auto Alley because I saw a Subaru that looked nice. When I got out of my car and walked over to look at the Subaru I then opened the door and proceded to seat in the drivers seat. The owner Mark Tate then came up to me while i was sitiing in the car and told me he was asking $4950 for the car, but since it has been sitting there a while he would let it go for $3950. I then ask if I could drive the car, so I did. I drove it a couple miles up the road and back. It seemed like a nice car. The owner and I went inside and I then ask him if he would take $3500 for the Subaru and he said he couldnt. I told him I liked it and that I would take it. I have to say filling out the paperwork should have been a red flag for me because of all the incessant talking. Because of his incessant talking he failed to explain the warranty to me and didnt give me the paperwork for that. I ask if any work had recently done to the car and he said he had the water pump replaced. He told me he put that in hisself to save money and he ordered Waterpump kit from Advance Auto. He said he and his family had been driving the car for a few weeks and they loved it. I then ask him for the work invoice for water pump. And again talking talking, so I didnt recieve invoices that day. I sighned paperwork and payed him $4049 in cash. He owed me $40 change but I said I would get it when I came to pick up my car. Off I go happy as can be.

When I got the car home I friend came over to look at the car and decided to raise the hood and water was all in the bottom, she saiding something is leaking you should take this car back. The water around the engine is not a good sign. I told her I wouldnt think Mark would sell me a damaged car. I should have listened to my friend. Long story short. The overheated on me 3rd day. I tried to work with the owner and he kept telling me its probably not serious. He told me to take to a mechanic and the warranty company would cover all repairs except for $100 deductible. He also told me to wait a week to report the claim. The owner Mark Tate of Auto Alley is now blaming me for the damage. I dont know how you can damage a car when you only drove 4 times. I think this is criminal that car dealers get away with this. Auto Alley 4226 Williamson Rd. Roanoke Va. 24012. Owner Mark Tate.
