Woke up after being distrubed in the early morning, to 3 a*s-Plunge workers freely walking around my front yard. It is to be noted, my home sits over 1 acrea back from the street (hundreds of feet, heavily wooded). My property is not only fenced but also legally signed regarding tresspassing & fully covered by CCTV. They had tresspassed OVER the driveway fence which has its own No-Tresspassing sign, in order to access my property. Only 1 of the workers was wearing any type of uniform & badging,(orange vest w/ clip on badge) other two were simply wearing jeans & t-shirts. When confront as to what they wanted & what they were doing on my property uninvited, I was told they "worked for the power company" and needed to/looking for access to a nieghboring property.
I informed them there was no access from our property and asked what exactly was so important to pass my fence, sign and cams that coukldnt be addressed with the owner of the property they claimed to be trying to access? I was then informed that they were assigned to remove trees & limbs that maybe on or near power lines. The story didnt add up, since our local municiple power company does not do that - especially on PRIVATE property and the location on my property where I 1st saw them, has no lines and my neighbor has a front door of her own to knock on... I was then given different stories about lines on limbs, wind, and a bunch of crap of concern on my property. Having now had enough of the games, I asked to see ID, which none of them had but one and it said a*s-Plunge Tree service.
One of the workers (the head a*s) began to then get a serious attitude with me, as if he was standing in his yard and not mine. I asked to see his ID - which he didnt have. I asked for his name, which he refused to provide. ( I later got it from his manager) I asked where the truck was.."down the street" I was told. Asked where they tools were..they were "canvassing" I was told. So, no ID, no visable truck or tools, street clothes, one lie after another and an attitude - I told them they had to leave. Now head a*s has a few things to say and then asked when my wife "would be home alone next?"... super creepy!
Once they left, I called the local a*s-Plunge office and was told a manger would call me right back. That neve rhappened. I then called the regional office. A few hours later I spoke with a great regional office manager who was very unhappy to learn that not only they had lied about who they were but that they were also out of uniform, unbaged and refused to provide such.
It was confirmed that they had NO AUTHORITY to ever enter my property to access anothers - or for any reason - without permission. I also contacted my local power co. and filed a complaint which because we are a co-op, & they were contracted by them to do street side power line/limb work only, they took very seriously. These complaints were forwarded to the corporate office, as well as my own attempts to contact them, were never once returned or addressed...
Know your property rights, these retards do not have ANY RIGHT to ever enter your property, perform work, cut trees or limbs on your property, etc without your consent - no different than anyone else. They ALWAYS have to wear proper uniforms and be Co. badged and must provide that infomation on request. They do not work FOR any power company - but are subcontracted in some cases...and they will break the law in an effort to then lie about work needing to be done..my guess is, to pad the bill on whomever is paying it. As an end note, they NEVER came back to my my neighbors house, and yes we watched for them to!
Asplundh came out here 3 different days. 1st day 5 trees cut and/or trimmed. They got stuck in yard with truck. Once unstuck very deep ruts left. Wood thrown every where. Pulled down secondary powerline. Causing my lights to go out and flicker. 2nd day took down 4 trees. Wanted me to sign a waiver. They all treated me like crap. Had me reduced to tears. Husband had to come home from work. They were buddy buddy with him. More wood thrown around. They broke top rail of fence. Failed to cut up one tree. 3rd day cut down 3 more trees. Trampled my rock garden. Destroyed several Rhododendron bushes. Failed to cut up one more tree. They were cutting for electric company. Called them to complain. Asplundh sent out someone to assess the damage. Finally the two trees cut up and scattered. Flowers were replaced with pathetic looking ones. One Rhododendron replaced by tiny bush. Mine were several feet tall. Some grass seed thrown down. Neither company is rectifying the situation
Don't let these butchers bear your yard. Almost two years of fighting with them over a tree they cut for excel will now end in a court battle. They cut half the life out of my giant maple tree in my backyard and within months you could see it start to die. Two large pieces fell from the tree after that and one took out the powerline and the other hit my house and caused damage. Plus it's going to cost over 5000 dollars to remove or it will fall on the power lines and they are saying it's my problem. There are a multiple complaints about these people. I'm going all the way with this one and reporting them to excel. DON'T HIRE THESE BUTCHERS!
