My wife and I were going to purchase a home from Ashton Woods. We are glad we did not purchase the home it was a bad experience. We gave Ashton Woods a $ 7500 for the lot at Union Park. We then were able to go to the design center and a month after this in January is where the problems began. They asked for extra deposit money, per our agreement, to lower the lot premium because they did think they house would appraise once it was built. We gave the deposit check and then they lost it. I was very upset and wanted to cancel the contract due to the burden the lost check would place on my wife and myself.
They would not cancel the contract they only said sorry. Then stated you sign the contract so we will not cancel it for this reason. Then Covid-19 required everyone to reduce hours and stay inside to quarantine. We then requested to cancel the contract due to financial constraints and Covid-19. We ask for our deposit back and stated we work in the healthcare field. My wife was not getting hours for work and my work hours were reduced. Ashton Woods still said no to the request because we signed the contract. Once all the strict quarantine requirements were lifted about 1.5 months later the lot and home went up for sale and they sold the home in short period of time. As front line workers we lost money and they keep ours. We are very dissatisfied with this company do not recommend buying a home from them all they care about it some money, so it seems.
Buyer beware, homes built and sold by Ashton Woods aka Ashton Orlando Residential LLC. $190 per sq ft in Apopka, Fl 32712 not golf or water front is not possible. This builder is using its own appraiser. Builds homes around Central Florida. BEWARE!
