ASCAP Reviews

  • Dec 26, 2016

ASCAP is the Performance Rights Organization that's supposed to collect money from Radio Stations & TV for any surveyed spins of a song, movie or tv show. I have had my song on BDS/Mediabase Stations with 1,700+ plays on the radio and ASCAP doesn't have any royalties for me. My song has been submitted to over 1,000 radio stations that ASCAP collect from and i haven't seen one single payment from them. Their usual excuse would be "your music haven't been surveyed" but i'm just finding out how even after a song is surveyed you still won't get paid. In December 2015, ASCAP even lied to me and told me my songs wasn't surveyed July 2015, but i eventually found out that my song was surveyed August 2015 which is right behind July 2015. The way i found out that my song was surveyed around that time summer 2015 was in 2016 when they accidentally left it on one of my statements even after trying to argue me down about my song not being surveyed, which was the first lie. I've contacted these ASCAP people through email message from their website and they keep telling me that they never found my song on the radio. I told them the exact name of the song that was on the radio of mines, and after i did it i noticed that they somehow just took that song title off my next statement which at first they claimed to be just internet streams (yeah right). This company has collected royalties for me but they haven't paid and how i know is because my government benefits became effected by it and i've never had this problem ever with my benefits. I can say that it's possible that these people could've collected anywhere between $4M to/or $10M from my songs being on the radio, especially since they claim that they can get paid up to $20,000 each radio station. What bothers me is these guys also don't do their job and survey songs on time and if they do,they'll do whatever it takes to make you believe that they didn't collect money for you. They're supposed to have a history of helping professional artists in the industry collect royalties, but the least popular a artist is-means the more they can get over on a artist by keeping their royalties. I'm pretty sure no major publishing company gets this problem out of ASCAP, only indies. In this case from experience, i can say that they just may be what you call "half professional/half scam".
