Made an appointment with owner Rose Mohammed at Artistic Rose Salon in Purcellville VA to get my hair colored and I had a nightmare of an experience with her. First I found that she operates out of a condo and her "salon" is it is a small room downstairs just off the garage and utility room. Personally I felt very uncomfortable going into someone's personal residence and felt I was intruding.
The next thing is she requires her customers to sign a "consent form" as she calls it. Basically it is a legal contract that states the customer won't hold her liable if she screws up your hair, which she did with mine. I suppose she screws up a lot of people's hair and is the need for a consent form. She also made it a point to inform me that her husband is an attorney and am sure this was done as a way of intimidation.
This contract threatens legal action if you post any negative, critical, or "non complimentary" reviews online or in social media.
The contract threatens a $5,000 fine for each post plus any legal fees. Am sure her husband is the attorney that wrote up this contract and he would really rack up the legal fees against someone.
For everyone's information, her "consent form" goes against the Consumer Review Fairness Act of 2016 and is therefore illegal. She can be sued for requiring someone sign this form in addition to being subject to federal penalties for breaking the law. Have never had to sign some B.S. legal agreement for any other stylist I have been to.
When she started coloring my hair, she informed me that she was a "chemist". Don't think mixing some hair color from one bottle with color from another entitles one to call themselves a chemist. She obviously has delusions of grandeur to think she is an actual chemist.
Next she pulled a bait-and-switch on me. She quoted me one price over the phone but after she was done with my hair, she tried charging me $5 more than what she quoted. I made her aware of this but she started arguing about it and I let it go as she was getting belligerent. Didn't feel it was worth getting into an argument over $5.
She really messed up the hair coloring. I wanted it dark blonde with a slight orange tint but apparently she does not know how to properly mix the hair coloring bottles and my hair came out a bright orange color (see photo). I ended up having to go to another stylist to get it corrected.
