On June 5, 2019, I ordered a set of marriage certificates to be apostillized and delivered to me in Bolivia. He accepted the job and invoiced me $329.99 total for the service which I paid to him via the provided link through Zoho (zohosecurepay). I paid and he acknowledged receipt of funds via an email immediately after.
On April 13, 2020, I emailed Dennis Jones asking about my documents. He did not reply.
On April 16, 2020, I emailed Dennis Jones asking about my documents. He did not reply.
On July 14, 2020, I emailed Dennis Jones asking about my documents. He did not reply.
On July 15, 2020, I attempted to contact Dennis Jones through his ApostilleX and Denhill Worldwide websites. He did not reply.
On July 16, I attempted to call Dennis via both of his published phone numbers. He did not answer or return the messages.
I should have checked Dennis Jones out ahead of time, because apparently, Dennis Jones is a pretty popular person all over the internet for having done the same thing to lots and lots of other people.
I was given their name by a colleague that used them 7 yrs ago. And for some reason, at that time they did come through with my colleagues apostille stamp he needed.
He gave my name and email to this company, they contacted me and gave me a break down of their services, I had no reason to doubt them due to my friends experience.
For me to get one document authenticated and to China, they charged me $624. I paid this on February 7th. They stated it would only take 8 to 10 days. So I followed up about 12 days later as I hadn't heard from them. They responded and said they were still waiting for it. 3 wks in and still no stamp, I emailed them again and a person by the name of Asia (not Dennis Jones, who was the original contact and even who I had talked to once on the phone) said they still hadn't heard back about my document.
That is when I suspected somehting was fishy.
So Googled this mans name, Dennis Jones and apostille and what I discovered was shocking! He had other apostille/government document companies offering the same services over the years. I found that there were many complaints by people defrauded of hundreds to thousounds of dollars like myself under the other companies.
So I attempted to call them and they stopped taking my calls, stopped responding to my emails. My colleague who had first had them email even attempted to contact them and they didn't respond to his email.
I ended up doing the authenitacation on my own, two 6 days and only cast me $200 after it was completed.
What a nightmare! I paid using a debit credit card- am working with my bank to see if I can recover this money. They state they are out New York City, but on other searches it says New Jersey, and come to find out one of the numbers I used from them that was not an 800 number was out of New Mexico.
So they essentially stole $624 from me. BTW, I have a disability as well called Spina Bifida and so require medical care that isn't cheap, so losing this money doesn't help my physical situation as well.
