I sent for Ape Survival's camo face mask. It was supposedly "free" for a shipping and handling fee of $9.95. What arrived today in the mail is a sleazy polyester tube that can be stretched over one's face and neck, if one doesn't feel the necessity to breathe.
The thing probably cost about 95 cents to make and another couple bucks to mail. I was looking forward to getting it, as any sort of facemask is unavailable here in Queens where I live, and as an outdoor person I liked the camo and the fact that it's washable. To give them (very small) credit, it did arrive within a week. Too bad it's a piece of you-know-what.
Desperate to find a face mask to use to protect myself from the COVID-19 virus, I found an ad for an anti-viral face mask on the internet. The ad said that for a limited time, the mask was free, and that all one had to do to get it was to pay the shipping and handling fee.
I ordered the mask on March 13, 2020. On or about March the 29th, I got an email from apesurvival saying that my order had shipped. That same day when I used the tracking number they had provided, information at the UPS tracking site said that UPS had not yet recieved the package for shipment, so when they told me that my package had shipped, they were lying. I didn't recieve my order until April 3rd, 2020. It came in a small clear pastic bage inside of a white plastic envelope,
On examining this face mask, I noticed the following;
1.) It looked rather cheap and didn't even have the metal strip over the nose to adjust the fit securely, and therefore was useless, even if the material it was made of would block the virus which I have no idea if it would
2.) It couldn't have weighed more that an ounce or two and could have been shipp to anywhere in the country for under a dollar; shippingand and handling was $9.95.
3.) From the looks of it, it couldn't have cost more that $1.50 to make.
So what apesurvival had done was to advertise an anti-virus face mask for free, charge a ridiculous amount for "shipping and handling", and send me a fack mask that was completely useless.
I took them up on their offer last year, paid a little over $10 for a "free Taclite" only had to pay shipping and handling. Package arrived with no instructions. I had to search the internet to find out what kind of batteries and go to battery stores to get help as there were 3 different kinds on the internet.
When I finally got the right one, I found out the Taclite that was shipped to me was a dud. I emailed them to resolve this and specifically told them I moved since the initial shipment and provided my new address, not just once, but two or 3 times.
Finally they shipped me a new Taclite and emailed me the tracking info.
However, they shipped to my old address and the shipment got returned to them. I emailed them to let them know what happened and have yet gotten a reply. $10 and a lot of time spent for absolutely no product. If I were to add up the time I spent trying to fix this based on my hourly wage, they would owe me hundreds of dollars now. What a waste!
Ordered 'Strike Pen' and was directed to a page advertising a FREE 'Survival Kit'. Received both promptly but now find that I was billed $47.00 through Citibank for the survival kit. There is also a recurring monthly charge for $47.00!
