I regret in having to post this statement but as victims of Tony Anver Karen - Anver Log Homes and as concerned citizens, my wife and I feel it is our obligation to do so in an effort to inform the public about Tony Anver Karen - Anver Log Homes unethical business practices and integrity issues. Our hope is that you the public can make an informed decision by knowing all the facts as it relates to our experience before you engage with Tony Anver Karen/Anver Log Homes,LLC /Rustic Homes Construction,LLC.
On 4/2/16 my wife and I invested our life savings into a dream we have had by contracting with Tony Karen & Anver Log Homes to build our Log Home in VA. this ultimately was going to become our retirement home. Unbeknownst to us was, the nightmare we had just signed up for.
After Tony received our deposit and first bank draw things went downhill rapidly, we could not get him to return calls, answer emails or text messages in a timely manner.
By contractual agreement Tony was supposed to commence work on our project within 45 days of the contract acceptance. The contract was accepted by all parties on 4/2/16 but Tony Karen/ Anver Log Homes didn’t start work on the project until 7/27/16, which violated the contractual agreement by 70 days.
Tony Karen/Anver Log Homes has neglected to make payment to the Septic contractor, the well company and the foundation wall company on our project. On 2/9/17 we were informed by the subcontractors that if we didn’t make the payments, it would leave them with no option but to start the process of placing liens on our property. We had to take out a line of credit for $48,345.88 to pay these contractors for services rendered on our project that Tony Anver Karen – Anver Log Homes neglected to pay.
Key broken promises / false business commitments - statements made by Tony Karen of Anver Log Homes; Tony Karen of Anver Log Homes missed the contracted start date for the project by 70 days, We were promised that the project would be complete by 11/24/2016 when that date was missed we were promised it would be completed by 12/25/16 it’s now 3/7/17 and the project is still not finished, Tony promises to have the deposit of $31,100.00 to the Mill by 8/1/2016 for the log package. The Mill received the Log Package deposit on 11/1/16. 92 days later than promised, To this day the Silt Fence has never been installed correctly per the Page County Erosion and Sediment Control Inspector (Tony – Anver Log Homes has been made aware of this issue starting on 9/14/16, again on 9/21/16, again on 9/22/17, again on 9/27/16 again on 10/15/16, again on 10/29/16 and as of 3/7/17 Tony – Anver Log Homes has failed to do anything about correcting it), Signed contract from Tony Karen was received by the foundation company, on 10/18/16 The foundation company installed the foundation with the balance due upon completion of installation which was 12/21/16. As of 3/7/17 no payment has been received from Tony Karen/Anver Log Homes for services rendered. My wife has had to act as the General Contractor on the project. This was necessary because Tony did not take an active role in the project. It should be noted that the last time Tony Karen/ or any agent of Anver Log Homes was at the project site was on 10/26/16.
Tony Anver Karen was arrested on 1/19/2017 for Title Fraud (sorry if I don’t sound surprised). The State of Virginia Common Wealth Attorney and The Page County Sheriffs Criminal Investigation Division are actively perusing an investigation on Felony Construction Fraud Charges against Tony Anver Karen of Anver Log Homes on our behalf. He has mismanaged our construction funds to the tune of >$100K. By networking, my wife and I have been made aware of four other families that have had similar dealings with Tony Anver Karen/Anver Log Homes, LLC/ Rustic Homes Construction, LLC and either have already filed a Civil Lawsuit or will be filing a Civil Lawsuit in an effort to bring Tony Anver Karen/Anver Log Homes to justice and redeem their financial losses incurred from dealing with a dishonest businessman. Other company names that Tony Anver Karen is / has been associated with are: Southern Log Homes and Rustic Homes Construction.
Our experience with Tony Anver Karen/Anver Log Homes has found him to be unprofessional, unethical, unresponsive, unsympathetic, insensitive, detached, inconsiderate…etc. and he has been negligent through the Mismanagement of our construction funds.
