I successfully got us forwarded to Karthik the supervisor who can issue refunds. Despite no services being rendered, the original bill of $159.00 was non-refundable until we spent over 20 minutes on the phone asking in one of a hundred different ways for the refund. The supervisor tried to trick us into accepting a flash drive in the mail and "priority support" instead of a full refund, and only agreed to refund $80.00. We did not agree on this, but the supervisor told us that he would refund the other $80.00 if we were not satisfied after the flash drive arrived. We were very unhappy at this point so we did not push. The flashdrive never arrived. We called back and requested a full refund but the same supervisor, Karthik, did not budge. We will file a complaint with BBB and our credit agency to get our money back.

Stay away from this company. Never trust tech support from Acer unless you have a warranty. And shame on Acer for enlisting the services of a company like this. Total scam.

IF I COULD GIVE THIS COMPANY 0 STARS i WOULD!!! I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND USING THIS TECH COMPANY TO SOLVE ANY PROBLEMS YOU MAY HAVE. I WAS SCAMMED INTO BUYING A 1 YEAR WARRANTY FOR A LAPTOP THEY COULD NOT FIX. I ended up buying a new laptop which came with a 1 year warranty, so i asked for a refund on the warranty that I no longer need. AFTER AN ENTIRE WEEK OF CALLING DAILY ASKING FOR SOMEONE TO GIVE ME MY REFUND I HAD TO GET AGGRESSIVE TO A POINT I WAS SCREAMING AT THEM. ONCE I FINALLY GOT TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE I WAS TOLD I WASN'T GETTING A FULL REFUND BECAUSE OF A "SERVICE FEE". I WAS F****NG CHARGED FOR SOMETHING THAT WASNT EVEN FIXED!!!!! I LOST $100, AND I WASNT EVEN TOLD I WAS GOING TO BE CHARGED A SERVICE FEE. PLEASE AVOID USING THIS COMPANY!

Scam

I was given the number from Acer chromebook and because I was out of warranty they transferred me to Tech support number 866-695-2237 and was told out of warranty and I would have to pay to check andh see if I had a virus on Chromebook. I agreed to pay for a year service for 139.00. I was transferred to supposedly secure bank to give Credit Card info. I gave info went back to representative and he gave me a number to call back 877-526-4466 and a PIN number for when I would have to call back. He then transferred me to the person that was going to run a Scan on Acer chromebook. Well needless to say the phone was ringing for too long, so I decided to google phone number and saw all the complaints and hung up, I am hoping they just wanted the 139.00 and didn’t hack Acer. I called and cancelled credit card and I am going to dispute the charge.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON ANSWERSBY.COM TECH SERVICE

My Acer computer running Windows 8 crashed after an unauthourized update by Microsoft. With my system down, I called Acer and the only option was to subscribe to their technical support provided by Answersby.com.

Paid $199.00, USD which I was advised was for a year and after I paid, it turns out it was for only 10 incidents !!!.

I complained and it was upgrade to unlimited with over 200 incidents which should last a year.

After hours on the phone, they finally advised the hard drive would need to be replaced, which was done. I then used Answersby to set the computer up again from the backup they took before the drive replacement.

Basic functions they could do, but then the computer had to be networked to 2 other computers, 1 a Wndows 7 and the other a Windows 10 on wifi. There are other computers connected by cable which worked from the start.

After hours and hours spent with them online (usually 4 - 5 hours at a time ) to attempt to fix the network connection, I was told an expert would call in and booked a date and time. They never called at those times, but always managed to call in the evening when there was no one in the office.

Meanwhile a sales rep has been calling every couple of days to get another year’s contract and when I complained about the unresolved network issue, I was told that they cannot fix it. Their excuse is that updates to the operating systems created this problem !!!.

I told our IT people and they found the fix in about ½ hour online, and it took them another ½ hour to set all 3 computers up and they all work ! They can access each other.

My 1 year is going to expire in about another 30 days and I still have 220 incidents to go. Their sales rep wants us to buy another year.

I’ve told him No Chance !

SO .... DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS SERVICE.

Once you make your payment you are under their mercy!!

I have an Acer desktop that is one month and two years old. The warranty is valid for two years and has expired. The computer stopped responding and in frozen status. Contacted AnswersBy and been advised that there was a software update and to recover the desktop I have to buy one year warranty for US$139.99. and the desktop can be fixed online.

After having paid for the warranty they asked me to call their technician (not as promised to repair it online).

I called the technician and I was with her on the phone for more than 3 hours instructing me what to do. However, all efforts failed and the computer continued to be dead.

I asked for a refund and been promised to have one of their sales team to call. So far and despite my continuous follow up no one called and my money still not refunded!

I came to work to a Gateway cumputer that had a black screen, when I tried to reboot. no boot was detected and an error message File:\BCD Error code: Oxc0000098 came up stating that I would need a recovery tool.

Since my computer came with no recovery disc, I proceeded on another computer to the Gateway website to see if I could get a recovery disc. However when I entered my serial number on the website it stated my computer was not under warranty and gave me a link to click on for answers by.

I went to the link and called the phone number asking if I could get the recovery disk, the man told me I would need to pay $149 non refundable and he would get me through to technical and for 6 months I would have help. I told him I did not need it for 6 months, but agreed to pay to get the computer fixed today because I am a business.

Long story short. 2 phone calls later , 2 hours later, unplugging and plugging back in my computer and reading the error code off 12 times, and listening to the guy on the other end, typing so he could read off the next thing he wanted me to do.

I was told.. You need a recovery disc.. You will need to purchase one at a different phone number. REALLY......

Aanyway I am not going through the hassle of trying to fight with these people to get my money back.... I took the computer 30 miles away.. 40 minutes later it was fixed...... I am only writing this as a warning to others. Save your money. These people are a joke.

I was directed their by acer they transfer my call. So I thought it was a good company. Once I was there a salesman or a intake person said that may problem was WELL in there scope of work over the phone. I explain that my tablet was not getting past the acer home screen. No problem, this is something they fix all day long. WELL within there skill set.

so I had a option of 79.99 for one time repair or 99.99 for 3 services calls for any andriod device. SO I said lets do the 99.99

and at no time did he say to me it was a BEST EFFORT Service..... I got screwed they did not fix it. I was told to go to a repair shop,,,,,, WTF. Are you kidding me.... I am going to call Acer Wednesday and lanuch a complaint with the them to
