Anovia Payments, LLC. Reviews

  • Nov 13, 2018

We ended our agreement with this Company in April of 2015 and returned and sent a cancellation form to this company. The same month we switched companies and NO company will use 2 processing companies. My wife and I started our company and she looked at our companies bank statements every month. And I rarely look at these statements and caught this charge on 11-17-18 .Our new company did have a similar name as well. I did speak to my bank about the last charge on 11-2 and 10-1 and the bank gave me the number on 11-13-18 to call. My wife started her battle with cancer in 2015 and passed last November. Either way the company would not consider giving us 1 penny back. The total charges are probably around $3,000 over that period of time. Yes, My wife should have caught and I should have seen in Dec. of 2017. Either way, the company did not see any transactions from 2015 of April, should have called us to see why we were not using their credit card processor after we had sent it back.

n-House Sales Team

Anovia Payments primarily hires in-house, W2-employed sales representatives to market its services directly. While this is preferable to the industry standard of hiring independently contracted agents, it is worth noting that Anovia has recently partnered with a telecommunications company called ACN to refer merchants.

Partnered With ACN

Although ACN has received numerous negative reviews online, an Anovia representative has stated that ACN sales reps do not have the ability to offer specific pricing or product recommendations to merchants. In addition, merchants interact with Anovia for the entire sales process, and ACN representatives are not involved directly with merchants. Anovia also has a referral program in place that allows business owners to make residuals by referring other merchants to Anovia.

Broken Sales Promises

This sales structure is designed to prevent merchants from experiencing deceptive practices when dealing with Anovia Payments. However, we have located a low-to-moderate number of reviews describing issues with the account setup process and rate guarantees from Anovia reps. It seems that some Anovia reps promise to beat or match merchants’ current rates, but some merchants dispute whether this guarantee is fulfilled. Other complaints mention nondisclosure of the company’s contract length and expensive termination fee. If you suspect that you are paying an undisclosed fee from Anovia, we recommend that you obtain a fee reduction audit from an independent third party.

Mixed Merchant Feedback

All told, the number of complaints we’ve received since this review’s initial publication raises some concerns about Anovia’s sales approach. This has forced us to lower the company’s score in this section to a “C.”

Three-Year Contract

Anovia does not list its pricing and fees on its website, but we have been able to determine some of the company’s costs by reading merchant complaints. Anovia’s partnerships with TSYS, Cynergy Data, and First Data mean that Anovia Payments likely offers contract terms that are very similar to the terms offered by those companies. Some merchants have mentioned a three-year agreement with an early termination fee of $495 plus liquidated damages and an annual PCI compliance fee of $99, but it is possible that these terms may vary depending on a merchant’s business type, size, and time in business.

Other Anovia Fees

Recent complaints indicate that the company’s minimum early termination fee is $495, but that some merchants who terminate may face an additional cost calculated by multiplying the number of months remaining in the contract by the merchant’s average monthly processing fees. One complainant cited a $22 monthly service fee and a $30 monthly fee for a service called “Anovia Insights.” Merchants also mention issues with fund withholding, which may be related to account setup errors.

Pricier Than the Competition

Our reviews of Anovia’s backend processors describe those companies’ contract terms as average, and the merchant feedback we’ve received about Anovia confirms that the company is not a cheap merchant account provider. We will therefore assign Anovia a “D” rating in this section at this time. If you have any knowledge about the standard Anovia contract, please leave that information in the comment secti

We had done business with Anovia as a result of involvement with ACN. Things went well until we sold the business. Upon the sale of our business that needed card services Anovia was contacted and notified of the situation. The customer service rep took all of the necessary information and said they were sorry to see us go. Apparently everything was resolved at that point, or at least until the charges continued to be debited from our business account.

Additional calls to rectify the situation resulted in a miriad of resopnses. First another rep took all of the information and extended condolences for the miscommunication. Again all is well, except the charges continued. Another call to a rep also took all of the information and informed us that a specialist would contact us within 24 hours to complete the process. Nothing and so we stopped payments through our bank. They tried multiple times and even made big amounts attempted. The grievence filed with the bank went unansweree by Anovia and all charges beyon the date of the stopped payment have been refunded. Still no contact by Anovia.

Recently a collection agency called "Oxygen Recovery" began calling. Having never heard of them I ignored the calls as miss information. Upon answering one yesterday they informed me that they were working on behalf of Anovia. They claim we owe nearly $900 in fees. I explained the situation and they said too bad, pay it. I politely said no for which they threatened to damage my personal credit as a result.

Appropriately we have filed a complaint with the BBB and now here. In my opinion Anovia is disreputable, dishones and dismal on customer service. Guess the price for a discount credit card processing company is far higher than they advertise. Perhaps false advertising whould be added to the list.
