AncestryByDNA, a DNA scammer, tries to fool you into thinking it is AncestryDNA.com and Ancestry.com, a legitimate and well respected company. Then they charge you $99 thinking you will get all of Ancestry.com's gene matching and family cross reference, DNA matching and public records to look through. YOU DO NOT. INSTEAD, you get a simple "ethnicity estimate" and until you get this $15 over the counter test result, for $99, you have no idea its AncestryBYDNA.com, an unrelated and unknown copycat scanner!! AncestryByDNA.com's logo has a Twisted Pair Image of DNA between the words "Ancestry" and "DNA" within which are the tiny letters, "by" well hidden. There are no warnings. And their website is parchment colored and flowery lettered like Ancestry.com up to a week ago. This is in my opinion nothing but an impersonation scam. AncestryByDNA shoule be shuttered for obtaining DNA Genetic Samoles under a false pretense, a FELONY.

I was new to Ancestry tests & this was being marketed as Ancestry.com DNA test. I have 2 adopted daughter with unknown ancestry. I bought 3 kits. Now can no longer access any info on them. So SAD.

I sent this link to groupon

I sent this link to groupon. Hopefully they will do something about it. You can't get on ancestrybydna.com site. Haven't been able to, only once since I bought my test. Yes, a rip off.

Rip Off

I was only able to get on the ancestrybydna.com site once. I don't think it is there, so it must of been a rip off. Did anyone contact Groupon about it, and get their $$ back? We should all do it. I just thought the site was down, but after trying for years/months, it can't be done, it was a scam I'm sure!!

Groupon RIpped Me Off through AncestrybyDNA Worthless Test

Appeared to be ancestry.com DNA tests but was some worthless test that stole our money. RIPOFF

Ancestry by DNA purposely attempts to look like Ancestry DNA but has more inferior services. The name of their company is the first indication of the deception.

So I bought 2 testing kits thinking I would get information on my actual ethicity(ie: Swedish, German, etc) All I got was the result that says 100% European.....the test is so general and only gives ballpark results.

But the fact that it purposely attempts to look like Ancestry DNA shows that it is trying to con the public into buying the product which is basically useless.

I purchased a DNA kit through Groupon that I thought was Ancestry.com. I received the kit, completed it, returned my saliva sample as instructed. I received my results and immediately was confused and dissatisfied with the results to the point where I emailed them as I was sure that I wasn't reading it right, and thought maybe I was missing something. No response to first email, I sent a second one. They responded back to me that "You must be confused, we don't advertise on tv and we won't connect you with other possible relatives, nor will we provide you with specifics about your nationality". It was ONLY at this point did I realize I had been duped by this company that's name is only differtiated from Ancestry.com by the word"by". I just threw $69 bucks out the window. RIPOFF!!

I purchased two reports from ancestrybydna.com. I thought I was on ancestrydna.com. I did my research and new what to expect when receiving my results. After waiting two months for my results I was disappointed and am now more confused. I was expecting the full break down but instead I was left with a extremely generalized scale and no explanation. For example It said I was 46% European and 8% Indigionious American and highlight north America Southe America and everything on the western hemisphere. The rest said African. I have seen a lot of video and expected to find out if I am French and Native American like I've thought my entire life. Completely confused and feeling cheated I asked for a refund on the other dna test I order since I wasn't expecting those results for a moment that or so. They refused.

AncestryByDNA.com is a genetic DNA testing service intended to tell you your paternal or maternal DNA information. They use a name and website design that makes you think you are purchasing from Ancestry.com's AncestryDNA service and then provide a report that tells you if you are white (european)-black-asian-native american.

This is a clear scam and once you sign-up and use the service you will then also begin to receive secondary spam and phishing emails attempting to sell you more genelogy or memory maker services.

I purchased this service through a Groupon and was completely shocked when I got a useless report that told me I am white. This is a complete scam.

Its advertisements were very misleading as to the depth of information that a participant/ subsriber would recieve through its testing service. for the area of DNA testing, participants are looking for areas of origin and other DNA details showing lineage. There are 3 kinds of "services" but only 1 page of 30-40 pages are specific to a person, A "certificate" that given a percentage breakdown of the DNA ethnically, a bar graph that shows the same information. A "higher" level for matrilineal or patrilineal, which of course costs more give a halopgroup. So except for the first one or two pages, everyone gets the same 30-40 pages explaining DNA. Contacting them via email seems to be the only way to get an answer IF they answer you. No telephone number is available.

Scam

I too was extremely disappointed with this site and results. Very misleading.........copycat service. The results only gives a breakdown of 4 genetic groups...........no more specific and gives this big write-up trying to explain that "we" basically are all from the same origin and that they can't get more specific. Total scam and I am actually ashamed that I got hoodwinked.

AncestrybyDNA

This service is a complete rip off - you can find out if you are White (European) - Black - Asian - or Native American. That is all the results tell you. I had purchased a Groupon thinking I was getting AncestryDNA.com testing and was shocked when the results showed up and there was nothing in the results but the fact I was white! What a scam, I am now also continually getting spam/phishing email from services clearly coming from this use of this service. Stay away from them they are a complete rip off.
